My DP has no sense of time, if he says he is going to be an hour, he will be two, even three.

He has had reason to take DD to school three times in the past week - three times she has been late. Despite being up at 6.30.

He has just taken her to an afterschool activity - they got back from school at 3.20, activity starts at four, a fifteen minute walk away - they have just left - DP comes back, ambles up the stairs, needs a wee - "um, you are going to be late" i say from my sick bed "oh well" says DP

Is it just my man who has no sense of urgency, am i a control freak, or is it all of them?

I must be a man then.

Morloth · 02/03/2010 17:10

Me too. MiffyWhinge, all our clocks are set forward in an attempt to get us all moving.

Itsjustafleshwound · 02/03/2010 17:13

I was the chiold of two parents who were always the last to arrive at pick-up and arriving after everyone else. It has made me anal about time keeping ...

However, DH doesn't share my habits and so all clocks in the fleshwound house run 5 minutes early ...

emsyj · 02/03/2010 17:14

YABU. My DH is obsessively punctual. I am at least 30 minutes (usually edging closer to 60 minutes ) late for everything. Including job interviews and everything. And no, I never have a very good excuse. I'm just a poor timekeeper.

my best friend has no concept of time! She texts to say shes just leaving her house.........an hour later, she still wont be here!

No sense of urgency either so it's not just a man thing but I know how frustrating it is!

Lucyellensmumma · 02/03/2010 17:18

yeah but cordon, she migh live an hours walk/drive from you for all i know

lol, she lives 2 mins drive from me, and is childless!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 02/03/2010 17:32

YABU, my parents were always the last to pick me up from school too. I had a lot of thinking time. Unfortunately I've somehow absorbed the idea that it didn't do me any harm etc. Consequently my DP multiplies by 2 however long I say I'm going to be, and usually gets the right answer. It's awful and embarrassing, but I just can never grasp how long things actually take. E.g. From bed to out the door - in my mind that takes 20 minutes. Actually, no.

cordonbleugh · 02/03/2010 18:02

elephants - I always add at least half an hour onto whatever time my friend tells me she'll be here!

Or if we need to be somewhere at a certain time, I'll tell her its at least half an hour before the actual time we need to be somewhere!
