To plan a naughty weekend away - for 3 years time!?

If not, help me think up some really really good ideas.

We are young, fit and not afraid to try something exciting like bondage paragliding, sailing, mountain climbing - anything really - that you can't do so well with children that we have been 'missing out on ' through 6 years of forced out of choice, devoted parenting.

OK, so you can leave the naughty ideas up to me if you want, but I really would like some inspiration for the daytimes and locations.

Yes, I do spend considerable amount of time thinking dreaming of this and I want it to be really special and memorable.

Not really thought about budget. Less than £1000 but not too rigid.

PARIS ticks all the boxes and you'll need to be fit to climb all those stairs up the Eiffel Tower!

why in 3 yrs time? is it a special birthday?

No, just enough time to save up and so youngest is 3 years old and SIL/BIL happy to baby sit for whole weekend then.

My worry for booking ti for 3 years time is that you get this massive picture in your head about how wonderful it is going to be and all the wonderful things you are going to do and you end up sad and disappointed because you have heaped so much expectation on it.

YAdefNBU for thinking about it but me personally would be saving for it but not actually planning it until much closer to the time so that I didn't have 3 whole years to get it worked up into this magical eutopia with swinging from the light fittings and it turned out that it peed with rain the whole time and we spent 24 hours sleeping after years of parenting exhausting us.

Dpends if you want home or abroad really.

The Lake District has some lovely romantic hotels and just about every outdoor activity going. You don't want anything too strenous , you need to save your energy for the good stuff.

Motor racing weekend? Flying lesson?

Scottish castle that has shooting/fishing/quad biking etc.?

Abroad, if you're into F1 a grand prix would be a great choice, then any of the grand prix circuits, Spa in Belgium is particularly good as a location.

It so hard to recommend places without knowing what you really like.

My DH's ideal weekend would be something like visiting the Normandy landing beaches, doesn't sound too romantic but there are some beautiful French villages to explore.

BTW, YANBU

I've got plans for the next 3 years holidays.

This year, Cuba for our 25th anniversary THIS MONTH! and Vegas + NY in September.

Next year, a tour of China.

2012, Alaska and Canada.

We've even got plans for 2015 - for our 50th Birthdays we're having a month off and touring America in a motorhome.

I get very twitchy with nothing to plan for.

Malificence - that's it, I just love lists, and plans and thinking about future trips.

Some really good ideas there. We are up for (almost) anything + beautiful scenery and lovely hotel with spa. oooh, I love the excitement.

We are (ok, I am) planning trips for our retirement - and we are only just approaching 30!

I know what you mean, Ineedacleaner - but I am quite good at keeping expectations low, I just love planning and dreaming. DH on other hand - expectations through roof - hence going to be a surprise! I am also planning Disney World / Majorca holidays with kids too - my fella laughs at me and thinks it's better to just do everything last minute, which is what we usually end up doing btw.
