excuse lack of capital letters laptop is playing up!

am talking to her about DS1 and his behaviour have been explaining to her about ODD which he has been diagnosed with, given that a few years ago, i was making excuses etc saying he was acting up because of this and that.

she won't have it that these disprders exist because they didn't when she was young!!!

They've always been there, poor kids were labelled as naughty tho and were left to suffer.

YANBU by the way.

TheLadyEvenstar · 28/02/2010 02:27

YANBU - so because kids were'nt labeled as having a disorder that automatically means it didn't exist?! Tell you mate to get a grip!

TheLadyEvenstar · 28/02/2010 02:29

she thinks that me getting a house rather than a flat and having 3 bedrooms as apposed to 2 will make a difference

ask her if he should then be put in a mental asylum like they did years ago and left to be institutionalised, thats what they did with disorders that they didn't fully understand! that'l shut her up

TheLadyEvenstar · 28/02/2010 02:33

I sympathise with you, OP, as some people just DON'T understand, no matter how you try to explain.

My ds has got some learning difficulties and each time I see this family friend she comments on how whenever she used to visit when ds was small, he was often watching Teletubbies! She then launches into a tirade of what a bad example that programme sets to kids, characters not interacting properly etc and could it have brought his problems on! I've given up arguing with her, she will NEVER understand! For the record I always thought Teletubbies was fun for youngsters, somebody's view that it could cause learning difficulties is laughable!

my dad said last night he thought ds1 was "growing out of his aspergers"
