Yanbu! However my ds (21mths) runs everywhere with arms and legs going like windmills. I wish slow was in his vocabulary.

LynetteScavo · 26/02/2010 16:55

YANBU.

bumpybecky · 26/02/2010 16:57

yanbu

I love the mittens that dangle from strings

mamsnet · 26/02/2010 17:04

I remember being sad when my DD started walking "properly"..

YANBU

whyme2 · 26/02/2010 17:06

I love the running full pelt with straight arms action. sadly ds has just learnt to use his arms when running and now goes twice as fast.

2shoes · 26/02/2010 18:09

i saw one today, she was like a walking doll

yanbu i love when they run. I think I look a bit odd sometimes I can't help gushing and going "awwww" my dd still runs with splayed legs and her but sticking out, think it's so funny.

WeNeedToLeaveInFiveMinutes · 26/02/2010 19:22

Stumble trip, stumble trip! YA deffo NBU .

Coldhands · 26/02/2010 19:41

YANBU, I love it when my DS gets so excited about getting out of his pushchair to have a run around. He can go quite a bit faster than me though. I often see people looking at him and smiling at his excitement, it always makes me smile too.

WingedVictory · 26/02/2010 19:52

It's not how slowly they walk, but how distracted they get by cars, gates, walls, ladders, people, more cars, dog poo.....

Winter is a lovely time to see a running child, because the tassels on the hats bounce. Mwah!

Boys2mam · 26/02/2010 19:55

DS2 is 18 mths and I often get people saying "awww, look at the size of him" when we're walking through our local shopping centre. He's sooo dinky and cute.

He can really shift though, especially running in the wrong direction

Coldhands · 26/02/2010 19:57

Agree with the distraction thing. My DS is obsessed with cars (including the film) and that is always difficult when we are walking around. Its worse when I take him out of the pushchair and have him on his reigns when I am on my own, thats always fun! He enjoys it though and I can't resist his excited little face.

EssenceOfJack · 26/02/2010 20:37

YANBU. DD2 is 2.5 now and walking properly, but she stills runs like a toddler, all bouncy and high feet and flappy hands and her legs only just keeping up with her body

Imisssleeping · 26/02/2010 20:48

Aah I love it and all the ooh aah looks from passers by as he's toddling about.
I think if I buy him the wrong size shoes should be able to keep his funny walk going for quite a while.

Rockbird · 26/02/2010 20:51

DD is 2.1 and walks normally but when she runs she forgets to bend her knees so her legs kick out to each side. It's hysterical

BertieBotts · 26/02/2010 20:51

I have taken lots of videos of DS walking as he has just started - it's the closest thing to keeping them one age forever without being creepy, after all

(But secretly I would love him to stay a toddler forever, tantrums and all)

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 26/02/2010 20:54

YANBU, when they run towards you with that stiff legged gait and their arms outstretched upwards and usually accompanied by a vocal "ahhhhhhhhhhh" my heart just melts

MajorMajor · 26/02/2010 20:55

yanbu. ds2 is 2.2 and has just learnt to ride a scooter - but he STILL manages to look cute, the handlebars are up by his chin

chegirlshadabloodynuff · 26/02/2010 20:56

I have been pondering lately about how much I utterly adore 2 year olds. It is my favourite age by far. They are such a lovely shape, all head and chubby hands.

I love the way they sit with their legs straight out in front of them and how they lean forward when they laugh.

They look cutest from behind.

I cant keep my eyes of my DS3 at the moment. He also is the spit of his sister at that age which is lovely but heartbreaking all at the same time.

I love he way that everything is 1.hilarious 2. a huge suprise or 3. a source of great outrage when you are two.

deedee321 · 26/02/2010 21:22

All these posts really made me smile. YA def NBU!

pigletmania · 26/02/2010 21:29

My dd 2.11 is not slow at all, legs like propellars and every tree along the way she has to hug it and say 'twee'.

HellBent · 26/02/2010 21:39

They are lovely aren't they?

My DD was given a pound by a little old lady waiting for a bus at the stop opposite the park we were playing in. DD had just learned to walk and was wearing wellies and splashing in a puddle (you know that jump they do where they bend knees and put loads of effort in but don't get of the ground!) giggling so much she had trouble breathing in and the old lady said it had made her day, she missed the bus so talked to us for the next 20 minutes til the next one came.

Shodan · 26/02/2010 21:54

Oh that's so cute, HellBent!!

I love when Ds2 runs along, arms a-flapping, then stops suddenly and bends over at right angles to examine something on the ground. Then it's up and off again, sudden stop etc etc.

Funnily enough it's all the old chaps around here who love watching ds2 stomp in puddles. All without exception smile and say something like 'Ohhh that's so much fun isn't it!'

2shoes · 26/02/2010 22:00

awww they all sound sooo cute.
(mum of an 18year old who has just done random stuff to his hair, and a dd who can't walk) oh i loved the toddler age

Oh me and my dad were just loving my little boy (2 and a bit) running along with his little bottom wiggling from side to side. My favourite is when they crouch down to look at something - mine always says 'ooOOOOooo' really seriously.

Awwwwwwww. Going to go and give him a kiss.
