to send dd in as a darts player for 'Dress as a sports person' day

So the school want the kids to dress as a famous sports person or someone who plays a sport. Dd was in tears last night because we couldnt think of anyone she could go as that we could find a costume for, one that was vaguely practical anyway.

So the solutions came down to Darts, archery (she has a bow and arrows), orienteering and curling(inline skates and a brush) and I am soooooo tempted because Darts is a sport and good one too.

I can cope(just) with World book day (which we are now having the week after) but think this is just ridiculous tbh.

Why not! I think it will be original and as long as you don't get her to swig beer from a pint glass after every lesson, I can't see anything wrong with it myself.
TBH at our school when there's anything dressy uppy, half the boys go as Ben 10 in Ben 10 tops and half the girls go as Snow White in off the shelf princess dresses so something llike your idea is a welcome change IMO!

Roffle.

Brilliant

Oh, Lord, I hate dressing up days.

Total pita, with the exception of Halloween.

Aye, send her as a darts player. Give her a fake pint too.

Off on a tangent, I met dh at a fancy dress party with the theme of 'the orient'. I dressed as an orienteerer and claimed to have misheard. He liked that.

Dp did say we'd have to go to the pub to get a plastic pint glass at the weekend . Such a harship that would be. I think we might be sold on the idea then.

Love the orient/orienteering 'mistake' thats a classic.

Inspired idea. Have you got a shirt for her with her name on the back in rhinestones?

Echo all those who hate dressing-up days. I am so glad that they are few and far between at secondary school.

I nearly spat out my tea at the darts player idea, restrained myself, and then nearly choked at the curling suggestion. I think it's a BRILLIANT idea! Go for it!

ShauntheSheep · 26/02/2010 10:23

not sure we have got the rhinestone jacket somehow . Am glad peopel like the idea. I thought that it might be taking things a bit far. Now to get dd hooked on the idea.

Excellent idea. Better than the 15 other boys going at footballers.
I'm going to remember curling for future use!

Great idea.
Pad her out so she looks about 16 stone, and lots of bling.
And a pint as has already been suggested.
