My DM will not stop going on about the fact that I have two boiled eggs, rather than one, for lunch. This may seem trivial (and it is ), but she is a total food obsessive and has fixated on my 2 egg-ness in order to illustrate my apparent over-eating (as far as she is concerned!).

She has even apparently done a poll of her friends (I kid you not) to find out if they eat one or two, and apparently they have all agreed that I am greedy!

Am I? I really didn't think I was but maybe I am? Surely 2 pieces of bread is normal for lunch, and you then need two eggs! In the light of all this overwhelming evidence (my DM's highly scientific poll of pensioners at her sewing group!), please advise if I am indeed BU and piggy!

(BTW DM has two eggs if she has scrambled egg which I think rather spoils her moral highgound IMO ).

Boiled-two
Poached-two
Fried-depends what's being served with it
Omelette-three (but no bread with it.)
Scrambled-two
Benedict-one

Hope that's cleared it up for you!

AuntieMaggie...I know where you are coming from! It's probably the one thing I've avoided when it comes to numbers/counting etc. I don't have the need to ensure certain numbers on the plate so to speak.

my Mum is still under the impression that eggs are bad for you (bad cholesterol) so she thinks 3-4 eggs a week is enough

I live on eggs, brilliant things. It's always two for boiled, and three if you're omletting or scrambling

Well, personally I would not have two pieces of bread (and presumably butter) AND two boiled eggs for my lunch as that amounts to at least 400 calories (depending on size of eggs, size of slices of bread and amount of butter) - but then I am on a diet.

For most normal people who are not on a diet, then 400 cals for lunch is perfectly normal and adequate.

Well your mother is clearly wrong.

Even my DS has two boiled eggs for breakfast, and two fried/poached eggs for supper, and he's only 6.
