I probably am, but I need a mini-rant...

DH, DD (11 months) and I all have a very nasty cold that's doing the rounds. Glands swollen, sore throat (in my case sore back, but it's a weakness... in dd's case, gummy eyes etc), general feeling of aches and pains. We have had this since mid last week. DH went off on a stag weekend (I have no problem with this at all, he deserves a break, but it is relevant in how he feels now, IMO! and was bad timing leaving sick wife and dd with no help!) and broke himself with beer, and is now feeling very sorry for himself, and has made things worse. He has taken 2 days off work.

I had a day off work with dd on monday as nursery would not take her due to gummy eyes (she has had conjunctivitis too), so don't feel I can take another one this week (we are both teachers). In any case, if I do I still have dd to look after as cannot get her to nursery.

I am slightly miffed because DH is being all man-flu, whereas I don't get a chance to recover properly as I don't get a break - and I am bf too. And then this morning he didn't even ask me how I was feeling....even though I was all sympathetic over him!

I don't even know why I am feeling annoyed; whether it's because he's taking a day off and I'm not (not being martyrish, really, just short of time with my classes!), or because I don't get time off even if I need it, or because he didn't ask me how I was feeling this morning!!!

I'm probably just poorly and grumpy. ho hum.

if your daughter has eye drops from doctor she can attend nursery after 24 hours and the staff can do eye drops rule in all nurseries .

she's back now, I had to get her cleared by the doctor (it's all part of her cold now). The problem getting her to nursery if I am ill is distance - she is at one near my work, 30 mins from home.

Sorry, I do feel a bit better (mentally anyway, still sinussy and coldy) for that rant.

Cheers!

YANBU. Most men seem to be crap at multitasking - which includes being ill but still functioning eg making own cup of tea/lemsip, looking after child (or at least looking AT child to ensure does not fall over/bang head while in the same room while Mummy tries to sort out bottles/food).

Same situation in our house 6 weeks ago; DH phoned in sick for a week with same cold I and 6 mo DD had. He expected to be coddled (second word was '.... off') but somehow, despite the cold, I managed to function, mind child, wash bottles/feed her etc. Still waiting for my turn to phone in sick. [sarcastic smiley face thing]

We are just bloody BRILLIANT is what we are for being able to cope. (And maybe quite knackered.)

We truly are brilliant, ginga! Although I have done him a bit of an injustice now, as I came home with horrible squeezy sinus- head and he is feeling better - so he's looked after me all evening! I was clearly in a grump this morning. He's a lovely bugger, actually, and I'm truly lucky. (AIBU now?! I'll stop....)
