proper pissing down here, 17 yo dd, gets up and ready for college and then sits next to me on settee, closes her eyes and dozes off. i tell her to go get the train and she said " i thought you were taking me!" this is after i had directly told her last night i was not.

"nope, i am not taking you. i'm having my brew before i set off, have a lovely day"

to which she said " well i hope you don't have a lovely day, at least you won't be wet through when you get there]

and left muttering something about 'pissing down'

i think she was really mean. I hate setting off to work on rubbishness.

so, was i right to let her get pissed wet through on a 15 min walk to station or should i have got my coat on and took her the 5 min car drive ?

The thing is, if these teenagers actually learn to ask nicely we would bend over backwards for them..........well, after we've had a cuppa. The bad attitutude just gets it all off to a bad start.

My very wise son has learnt to grovel but my daughter took a lot longer to work out that being nice pays off!

Nope YANBU the walk is good for her even in the rain

You are most definatley NOT being unreasonable! At 17 I was already a mother, without a car, and I took myself anywhere I or DS needed to be, no matter what the weather.

When my daughter is being a real mare - it usually turns out to be 'that time'. It's sometimes easy to forget they get PMT too.........
