House is not the worst its ever been but is a bit of a tip.

I am knackered after stress at work and wakeful night.

Toddler asleep, DH at work.

Would somebody PLEASE tell me its ok to sit and do knob-all rather than getting up and doing loads of housework like I;m sure all you other mums are doing?!?!?]

Cancel that. Toddler awake.

i've done fuck all today - it'll be here tomorrow

WhatNoLunchBreak · 20/02/2010 16:57

Sit. Do knob-all.

Okay, check on your toddler first.

MalloryKnox · 20/02/2010 16:58

Im doing exactly the same, ...I dont even work, Im just pure lazy, both kids asleep dh at work, the house looks like a bomb has hit it, But I dont care...haha..its the weekend..feck it!

Triggles · 20/02/2010 17:02

I did some run-around cleaning this morning and a bit this afternoon. House was a tip and DH's family was stopping by to visit, so there was no way I was going to leave it a complete tip, even though his family would never have said anything - it would have bothered me.

But now they've been and gone. And that's it. No more housework today. I'm off duty for a bit.

Trikken · 20/02/2010 17:09

mumblecrumble its fine to have a bit of 'you' time, and the house-work will wait. In fact Im doing the same right now. My house needs a jolly good hoover and a dust but baby is sleeping and mil has just picked up my boy, so all is quiet. all i need now is a cuppa coffee and some cake and im set.

Trikken · 20/02/2010 17:10

thought id posted twice then! (confused by looking at Triggles above)

nickschick · 20/02/2010 17:12

Ive rushed around doing loads all day and just come back from the supermarket to find dh doing what he does all day ......knob-all .

YOU STAY SAT THERE!!!!!

GoddessInTheKitchen · 20/02/2010 17:17

well i'm supposed to be making dinner but the kids had a late lunch so they may as well have a late dinner too, then a late night, then they'll wake up later tommorrow morning! so i'm sat here for a very good reason.... its all leading to a sunday lie in

mumblecrumble · 20/02/2010 18:05

Goddess in the kitchen - fingers crossed for your lie in...

DD had woken up.... Felt more motivated! Dusted her room and put everything away and put some 'baby stuff' into storage. Went to get hte hoover from the cupboard (full of crap we haven;t unpacked yet....) and found 2 special things: A cube of photos from when I was almost exactly DD's age and a tine of 'special' things. I sat and showed them to DD then popped them on my 'special things' shelf. DD then asked where her special things shelf was so we cleared one of her shleves ready to pick a plant etc...

Then hoovered all of visable carpet upstairs...

NOW DD is having cheesy sarnies and chilling with Cbeebies and we decided to relax in the lounge as its the weekend.

Thanks folks.

Have been feeling a bit anxiousy recently. Am going to write an email to my work mentor dude to ask to see him. (I am music teacher, have the biggest concert I;ve ever done coming up, am doing course work on my own for first time and othe stuff. Thought all was just about under control then found out we have ofsted inspection )

Am reading your posts putting life into perspective. Also rememebring when I was feeding a newborn round the clock and that if this is what the house had been like then I;d have thanksed the lord!!!!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 21/02/2010 18:57

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 21/02/2010 18:57

How are you this evening mumble?

deaddei · 21/02/2010 19:04

I decided at the beginning of half term that apart from cleaning the toilets and putting the washing on- I would not do any housework all week.
And guess what?
Nothing awful happened. In fact, I've had the most relaxed week at home.
Really pleased as I get very obsessed about it normally- but listened to my daughter's Therapist (she has OCD).
I will be starting tomorrow once they're back at school....

WingedVictory · 21/02/2010 23:41

Don't our DHs/DPs sit down and chill out instead of doing the housework?! I got down this morning, after my lie-in (he gets one a week, and I get one), and the kitchen was a tip, breakfast fruit in the sitting room, too (right where the CBeebies-a-thon had been taking place!)

We have to get more like the men if we are to survive. As deaddei said: "Nothing awful happened."
