Just had a salesman at my door, he said
"is your mum or dad home please?"

I AM 30 YEARS OLD FFS

Ha! I get this all the time.

Love your name BYW, its been my mantra the last 2 weeks with a 13 month old daughter who has learned to push anything and everything against the couch to climb up!

My flatmate at uni was really embarrassed when this happened to her, if anyone said it to me know I would probably wet myself laughing - pelvic floor not being what it was

Not sure I'd be offended though - what a get out clause, no they aren't, close door and carry on with peaceful evening.

Salesmen are usually much harder to get rid of

Bicnod · 16/02/2010 19:26

If someone said that to me I'd grab their head and give them a big fat snog

skybluewinking · 16/02/2010 19:27

I used to get this all the time.
I don't any more
YABU to be insulted!

shockers · 16/02/2010 19:30

shockers · 16/02/2010 19:31

MayorNaze · 16/02/2010 19:32

ha this as happened to me! i just said no and losed the door

HappySeven · 16/02/2010 19:36

My friend (33) was asked if his mother had had the baby yet. I think both he and his wife were offended! I'd be flattered but also thinking the man needed glasses.

pjmama · 16/02/2010 19:37

When I was about 14 I answered my parents door wearing my school uniform. The salesman asked me if I was the homeowner

GetDownYouWillFall · 16/02/2010 19:45

The ironic thing is, my mum WAS in! She's come over to look after DD!

I used to get that too (WHEN I was a bit younger!).

I used to say 'No, they are dead [true], sorry, bye'

TidyBush · 16/02/2010 19:54

YABU - I'd love that to happen to me.

A little while ago I was at a local pub/restaurant with DH and DD1. The next day I was talking to a someone I know through work and she said "I saw you in the pub last night and said to my friend I know her, she must be having an evening out with her children!!".

Well I know that DH has a baby face but I'm 40 and he's 44 fgs
