To do absolutely nothing with the kids today.

Yesterday morning I took my 3 and 5 year old out to this local insect/aquarium type place which they love. Then on to a toy shop to spend the last of their birtday money. When we came home I made them their favourite lunch and played with them for a while. I left them to play by themselves while I cracked on with some chores but the minute they weren't getting my full attention they turned into brats from hell. It was tag team tantruming on and off all afternoon until bedtime. I was so upset and p-d off. So today, instead of taking them swimming and making them pancakes, I'm thinking they can stay in and entertain themselves. If they're going to behave badly despite me entertaining them and giving them attention I might as well stick the TV on, curl up with a book and ignore them.

God, to think I was looking forward to half term.

Mine spent yesterday building a den under the pool table, making treasure maps and hiding clues all over the house. I spent a good part of the day on mumsnet. I did feel a bit guilty later on so I took them to see Ponyo. DS2 said to me as he was going to bed "This has been a good day today".

I am taking mine to the Science Museum and Rainforest Cafe today with a selection of their best friends and accompanying mums. DS1 said this morning " Aw. I want to stay at home. "

Grrr. Its, raining, I'm tempted.

Mine sometimes play like that but yesterday afternoon was definitely not one of those days unfortunately.

The problem Mrs G is that if they are anything like my dcs they will be worse if they have been hanging around the house all day...

Taffetacat, I'd be tempted too. It's raining here and swimming would mean a bus journey with a walk either end.

DecorHate you are so right. That's exactly the reason I'd arranged to do something with them every day of the holidays.

Sigh. It's a lose-lose situation.

Oh goodness. Have my days mixed up oooops (late night....). Where are those activity books??

Don´t do it.

By 4 pm you will regret it badly.

By 6 pm you will have either downed a bottle of wine, or be in really bad mood.

By 6:30 pm you´ll be weeping.

Speaking from experience as a mother of 2 boys (4 and 6).

Can´t keep them in all day, just doesn´t work.

Take them swimming, just don´t do the pancake treat to make a point.

Oh no Chandon, I've decided to do the opposite - and I can't even drink cos I'm pregnant!!

I want the pancakes so we're bloody well having them.

They're actually playing nicely so far so I'm having a quiet day in. I may well be drinking chocolate sauce straight from the bottle by 4pm - it's a risk I'm prepared to take

Mine were unutterable horrors yesterday. Today we will be walking the dog as far as we can up the hills to wear the little feckers out.

I'm taking mine to the hairdresser this afternoon. I'm not looking forward to it because ds is severely autistic and was a complete nightmare last time. So that will be enough excitement for us for one day! I fully intend to ignore them for the rest of the day whilst giving them crisps to keep them quiet.
I will be on MN (only came on now to see if it was back).
