Um... what?

TakeLovingChances · 16/02/2010 07:29

I read that too and questioned if Janet had ever actually READ MN, or if she just saw one of their adverts on MN and thought, ahha, these women are a bunch of middle-class Boden wearing yummy mummies!

For the record: I'm 25 and have never even seen what Boden clothes look like!

woweeee did you read the comments from the DM readers???? bitch tastic indeed!

I find boden (womens range) to be over priced, poor stitch quality and shrinks in the wash; with the exception of the childrens clothes which are fantastic in quality and reasonably priced (to me).

I thought that the comment about the dress code being Boden was just an in-joke ... the idea that MNers are homogenous Boden babes is very funny. [My take on Boden: fine for kids; don't know any grown ups who wear it. However Johnny is a lovely bloke as demonstrated by the incident of Trinity's coat]

JSP suggests the politicians shoud "target women over 40, many of whom are single and divorced. "

um... a lot of us are over 40. A lot are single or divorced.

Obviously, not being a mother she's never really read MN, only the media spin on it. No reason why she should have read MN but then why make sweeping generalisations? Strange choice of invitee to the birthday party maybe was asking for comment though.

At least it was better than the piece in the Sunday times accusing MN of being a nest of bullies... er, journalist castigating individual people using their nicknames in a national paper where they have no right of reply, now thats bullying.

shockers · 16/02/2010 09:59

If JSP had ever been on here, she would have known that the Boden 'dress code' was tongue-in-cheek.

Damn I'll stick with Jack Wills and pretend to be 18 then... grin

(actually woman by Primark.. or Next if I'm feeling flush)
I used to buy Boden shorts for the boys when they were littlies cos they never wore out and could be handed down.
Sadly now mine are teens they don't want stripey crops...

EdgarAllenSnow · 16/02/2010 10:27

what do i have to do to get invited to a Mumsnet party?

i want that champagne.

'champagne for real friends, and real pain for sham friends'

nickelbabe · 16/02/2010 10:32

Edgar, it would be nice to be invited, wouldn't it!

I own 2 boden tops (i'm 33). they were from a charity shop and are a size too big.

so therefore, i know that they don't shrink in the wash, because they're still too big!

i like them though, they're quite pretty.

probono · 16/02/2010 10:34

"The daily discussions are usually pretty childish, and there's a fair amount of bullying. There seems to be a received way of thinking, and woe betide anyone who disagrees."
