to NOT take these parcels up the street and deliver?

on Friday a courier from Next knocked and asked me to take some parcels for a family who live up the street as no one was home. she said she would post a card to say where they were and so they would be collected.

my hallway is small and now cluttered with some one elses parcels. no one has collected them. ive been up to the house a couple of times and no one has answered thought the windows have been open indicating that someone was in?? quite why the courier delivered them to me ive no idea - can only assume that the immediate neighbours were out.

im now inclined to phone the couriers number on the sticker and tell her that no one has collected and to come back for them. AIBU or should i just hang on to them until the family up the road decide to come and get them? or should i just keep trying to do the couriers job for her and keep trying?

Maleeka someone might be looking after the dog but if it is a neighbour feeding the dog while the home owners are away would you really expect them to collect parcels from nieghbours too? I would pick up mail from by the door in this situation but wouldn't look at what it was so wouldn't know about parcels being delivered elsewhere!

theyve got till tuesday....then im phoning courier back. or they will get ruined as we have several projects on the go DIY wise at once and its a small house with no space. i dont really think thats unreasonable under the circumstances.

Vicar understand why you can't stick stuff through a window

can you go and see if there appears to be someone at home and knock now if it is irritating you? As long as you are polite about it I am sure they will be fine - they might have been away and only just got back and not wanted to bother you?

They also may be p*ss taking idiots but I like to presume the best of people rather than immediately thinking the worst (not saying you are doing this by the way and understand why you are irritated but there might well be genuine reasons why they haven't been)

Or stick them in a couple of bin bags (to keep them dry) and put them in your leaky garage

alicet ive already sent DS not that long ago. he said dog was barking at window but no answer.

ive pushed a large note through letter box. if no one collects parcels by tuesday ill phone courier to collect them. i think that is giving them long enough from friday to tuesday - if they want them.

Fair play to call courier on Tues then. I'd probably stick another note through telling them you are going to do that though.

Courier may well tell you to eff off though - they probably won't care as they have your signature saying you accepted the parcels so are covered.

Call Next to ask them to telephone customers if this happens?

Anyway fingers crossed they will pitch up tomorrow saying they've been away and thanks for taking parcels!

Well alicet i guess if i was just feeding the dog, then actually leaving a dog alone with a load of parcels, wouldnt be such a good idea

Got visions of Rex happily munching away on a rather nice Next lampshade, but still!

I'd probably just get in touch with the houseownsers and mention that their parcels have been at number whatever since Friday and that they would probably be sent back soon, so they have a heads or can make alternative arrangements, maybe with another friend to collect them.
