To think a premiership footballer having a 'pay as you go' phone is laughable.

What a sorry excuse.

I feel sorry for Cheryl Cole. I bet she believes him.

If you are not a heavy mobile user like myself, pay-as-you-go are a good option. Why tie yourself to a contract when you only use it for emergencies and not chit-chat? I find the whole mobile phone culture unpleasant to be frank, and people who use them non-stop to have an overblown sense of their own importance.

I worked in phones for u for a few months after uni and had to turn a couple of footballers down for contract phones as the credit check goes off previous addresses and quite often when they are in the youth team and living in shared accomodation a few of them get into debt- which lowers the credit score etc.

Maranth You ar e right about PAYG being a good option for lightmobile usage. The point is do you really think some one like Ashley Cole, who has some one taking care of every bill, is a light mobile user. I don't think so! He hasn't got time to nip to news agents every couple of days to top up!!

I have 2 mobiles (both PAYG!) but one is for my pet sitting business Not much rumpy pumpy on there "hi saintly can you look after my cat this weekend please" I suppose if I had Mrs Slocombe as a client someone could get suspicious.....
