to think my stepdaughter should be pleased she has a job!

Am so cross with stepdaughter! (19) When I married dh I had my own business. My daughters have worked with me since leaving school and of course I offered sd the same. The job requires working evenings - that's the nature of the business. Now today she's mentioned to me that she wants to go to a gig tonight. She was scheduled to work, I'm dog tired and my girls (who would normally fill in) are also going out. So Iabu to think she should just do the job she's paid for!

Yes she is meant to work for me forever. Exactly!

My daughters will want to get married and so on and I will need madam to work here and help me.

She's just brandished the bloody shoes in front of me as well.

Totally impractical - I bloody knew it

no happy ending here

Oh, she's got more clothes than your daughters now has she. Do you do regular wardrobe inventories then? I bet she's not allowed to go to the ball now is she? What a joke.

upahill · 06/02/2010 11:46

Listen to yourself Cuddlebunny. At first I thought it was a teenage girl being stroppy and workshy. But she wasn't scheduled to work.
If I'm asked to go in to cover something at work I wil IF I can and haven't anything else planned but I'm certainly not obliged to.
Going back to your fisrt post it sounds like she is doing the job she's being paid for.

I don't see why it is a given that she should work for a family buisness. It may not suit her and it will just drag the buisness down if she resents being their.
Would you have denied your daughter training courses if they wanted to go into a different profession. If the answer is yes you are bonkers.

upahill · 06/02/2010 11:47

Got it!!

It is a joke!

LollipopViolet · 06/02/2010 11:50

Bit of a daft joke to be honest

lisianthus · 06/02/2010 11:51

heh - I'll bet you have a mouse problem too. Perhaps you'd better get your DSD to start you a vegetable garden so she doesn't burden you with food bills anymore. I hear pumpkins are easy to grow at this time of year.

cakeywakey · 06/02/2010 11:53

Careful of the glass shoes on your flooring love!

Cuddlybunnymummy · 06/02/2010 11:54

It's funny you should mention pumpkins - I have them all counted and photographed so if any stock goes missing I'll know who to blame...

Sorry ladies if you're vexed with me - the whole thing just popped in to my head and I couldn't resist.

I would watch your own daughters carefully in case they start self-harming over this situation. Heels and toes particular danger areas.

titchy · 06/02/2010 11:54

I wouldn't worry - soon enough she'll meet some nice young man who'll be well off enough to indulge her and she'll be off your hands. Mark my words.

Mind you your dds'll have to step up to the mark then...

HellBent · 06/02/2010 11:55

Don't quite understand this, aren't trolls supposed to be troublemakers or be funny? This is neither!

titchy · 06/02/2010 11:55

Maybe a compromise - she can go but has to be back by midnight?

MrsC2010 · 06/02/2010 11:55

Ahhh, I got completely taken in. Doh.

Cuddlybunnymummy · 06/02/2010 11:57

Cory and Titchy - duly noted

Hellbent - I'm a nice troll I think it was a little bit funny, just a little tiny bit - if only in the stupendous irony of my dreadful posting name?

Northernlurker · 06/02/2010 12:20

memoo · 06/02/2010 12:25

And by the way don't blame you for avoiding the cleaning!

VinegarTits · 06/02/2010 12:27

Northernlurker · 06/02/2010 12:41
