to expect to be able to buy winter clothes for my baby in January

DD (a VERY small 6 month old) just went up into the next size of clothes. Foolishly I have been walking round the shops trying to buy her lined trousers, jumpers, cardigans etc. But these items are nowhere to be found, despite the fact that it's STILL WINTER. Instead the aisles are filled with tshirs and swimwear. I had the same problem with DS when I tried to buy him shorts in August. It's all very well if shops insist on bringing out adult summer range in January, but given how quickly kids grow in the first few years, AIBU to expect stores aimed at babies and small children to buck the trend and sell clothes the match the season. Or should I have been more organised and bought DD a full season's wardrobe in 4 different sizes on the day she was born?

You'll learn! There are still winter clothes out there but not usually in your choice of colour or style but beggars can't be choosers. NCT Sales are a good bet too!

I totally sympathise! This drives me mad. DS age 7 has just had a growth spurt and can I find him a winter coat? No I blumming can't.

It is crazy to have this 'one season ahead' policy with kids - they grow!

YANBU. This drives me mad - for adults as well - I want to be able to buy something and then wear it FFS!

YABU you'll find them in the sales now, you are not looking hard enough! My mothercare still had snowsuits in the shop yesterday. Boots/minimode have sale winter clothes as well.

I thought about trying to get ahead of the game and buying swim stuff for both the kids, but then I thought, how do I know what size they'll both be in 6 months! Really get frustrated by this.

Also as an aside, I find on some baby clothes all the arms are ridiculously long cos shops haven't bothered to actually look at the dimensions of a baby to see that their arms are shorter in proportion to their body than adults. But now I think I'm just nit-picking!

YANBU, it is deeply irritating.

I hate buying children's clothes too much in advance (I get a bit nervous about it which I know is silly) so find it very difficult to stock up. DS is wearing a lot of layers at the moment - vest plus babygro under summery outfit.

DD was very prem and so, despite being 9.5mo, is still wearing 0-3mo clothes. I have lots of 3-6 stuff that I bought, assuming she would grow into during the winter, but it doesn't look like she's going to! So she'll be wearing lined trousers and jumpers in August!
