My Dc's very charmingly shout "BOGEYS" at the tops of their voice copying a -crap- children's programme form a couple of years ago I would actually prefer snot myself

MayorNaze · 01/02/2010 13:12

dd shouts boogs when her nose needs wiping and has done for a long long time. she is 3.8. if snot is the worst your 2 year old says then think yourself lucky..!!!

Iklboo · 01/02/2010 13:12

My folks call DS's runny nose 'candles'or 'nose alert' which is a bit better than 'snot'. Too early for 'Mama - it would appear that I have an excess of mucus descending from my nostrils onto my philtrum' I suppose

darkandstormy · 01/02/2010 13:13

snot is not too bad in the big scheme of things.

Chillohippi · 01/02/2010 13:14

YABU. Bogies, snotties...it's all ok to me.

brightongirldownunder · 01/02/2010 13:15

Better than my vile child of 2.8 yrs who picks her nose, removes debris, waves it around and shouts "Look at my snot - its enorrrrmous"
I just close my ears to it now....

fernie3 · 01/02/2010 13:16

its bogies here which is odd because I cant remember ever saying it myself!. I have heard someones child call it nose juice which made me laugh and feel slightly sick for some reason!.

gingernutlover · 01/02/2010 13:17

YANBU, nursery taught my dd to say it and I hate hearing her say it.

I'm not sure what the polite alternative is though, excpet "my nose needs blowing/wiping"

looks like we're in the minority though ... lol

ToccataAndFudge · 01/02/2010 13:19

DS3 hasn't learned snot yet...........but he does "fart" (and giggles hysterically about it)

CarrieDaBabi · 01/02/2010 13:21

lol, i like nose alert.

i will try and teach her that instead.

however i feel dhs work here is done, and the word snot is ingrained!

KurriKurri · 01/02/2010 13:22

Don't know that snot is any worse than wee or poo.(the word not the substance)

But I guess 'My nose is running' is more 'lady like'

DorotheaPlenticlew · 01/02/2010 13:29

DS (2.5) used to say "I need a tissue" or "You need to wipe my nose" in urgent tones.

But today I accidentally used the word snot to him, and he instantly picked up on it and asked me to get the snot out of his nose. Am now really regretting this as it sounded a bit horrible!

CarrieDaBabi · 01/02/2010 13:32

yes, mummy my nose is running, would be much nicer

Boogers! Here. I love teaching the toddlers of posh friends all of these inappropriate words. A friend's DD responded with "Now" when her dad said "And what do we say?" (trying to illicit a "please"). I feel this is important work on my part.

princessparty · 01/02/2010 15:59

s'not the end of the world!

pranma · 01/02/2010 16:00

My dgs says 'I did party pants' which is his fart expression runny nose is 'Got yucky nose' which sums it up I think.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 01/02/2010 16:05

My two have only ever said "I need a tissue." Or someimes "I've got a snotty nose", which somehow sounds a bit posher than "snot" on its own.

bintofbohemia · 01/02/2010 16:23

what's the technical (biological) term for snot?

diddl · 01/02/2010 16:24

YANBU.
It sounds horrible.

I think YABU - "snot" seems to be a totally acceptable word for young children these days. DS learnt it at nursery where teachers use it as well.

mumof4sons · 01/02/2010 16:45

It is called 'nose gunge' in our house. Don't know why, but that is what it is.

ToccataAndFudge · 01/02/2010 16:52

take heart - I've just had a friend round for coffee while waiting for our oldest children to come out of choir at school.

Her DD (almost 2) has learnt "shit" from someone (probably an older sibling) and so when she's done a poo goes and gets a clean nappy holds it up and says "done shit"
