bought brand new car in sept

now have problem with it, still drivable but the problem is very annoying and "not on" considering its a 5 month old car!

phoned dealer service dept and the cant fit me in until middle of feb and are going to charge me for the courtesy car.

stupid stupid me thinking that to buy a brand new car would mean trouble free motoring.

I have driven 2 peugots, a new 206 when they just were launched, and a second hand 307 sw (as the family grew), and we had no problems with either, no garage fees nothing. Compare this to our Fiat, we have spent over £2k in repairs since we bought it 18 months ago (2005 model). We had problems with the doors on the fiat just like you. Luckily I had negotiated a 6 months used car warranty rather than the standard 3 months, as I was told this was both expensive and complicated. Once they had ordered the parts (took a week), the car was just in for the day. We are however going to upgrade the car, but no more FIATS! I yearn for a peugot!

sorry, not helpful, just sharing. But I agree you should not have such troubles when you spend a fortune on a new car.

Just called Honda about 2 irritating issues that need fixing on my newish (under warranty) car and they've offered a), a courtesy car I can insure myself or have their insurance at £10 (standard I think), b) for them to collect and deliver it from my home address or c) they can do it in under an hour and I can either wait and drink all their free coffee, read their magazines and play with the brand new cars in the showroom or nip over to the town centre to shop.

Think the insurance issue is fair enough actually. And paying for petrol used certainly is.

well, an update

finally got the car to the dealership yesterday, they call me in the afternoon to say they will order part needed , fit it and i can collect today.

Well, I should have known that was too easy .....

the part has been discontinued, they no longer make them and although they will make a new modified part (apparently lots of problem with when they finally do get part they will collect and deliver car at a time to suit me.

I knwo they are trying but I am just totally amazed at the whole situation, didnt even have a rant at them cos I simply dont know what to say.

I got rid of my peugeot in november as the customer care was shit. Numerous problems with the (newish) car too.

gingernutlover · 16/02/2010 18:48

oh no, dont say that

going to the local paper with your story often works wonders, they do not want crap publicity

gingernutlover · 16/02/2010 19:34

really? Would they actually be interested?

I am willing to give the guys at the dealership til the end of the week to find out from peugeot what is happening. Anymore than that and I will be having a paddy

well a week on and they still cannot fix car, as can't order the part becasue peugeot are not making it. I am fuming quietly and not really sure if there is anything I can do about this - it just seems diabolical service.

How long is a reasonable time to wait? Anyone got any idea of anything I can do?
My warranty document doesnt give time limits for repairs etc it just says they will repair it IYSWIM

ah ha, i found bit of their website which says the go by the code of conduct for something or other for new cars, clearly states they are in the wrong.

Have mailed them telling them off, feel a bit better now. Got reply to say they would investigate and get abck to me within 6 days
