i didnt know where else to put this so i am trying here.basically my 9 year old dd doesnt wipe herself properly when she does a poo.this means stained knickers and stained towels as she also doesnt wash her bum properly.i have tried talking to her about it but she just says she doesnt care.what should i do?

Tell her she will smell of poo and her friends will smell it and they will see stains when she changes for PE.Peer pressure is quite formidable. You could also try her with some of that moistened toilet paper-Kangoo is a child's version or for adults I think it is called'wet ones' should help her do a better job of wiping.

YANBU

Moistened toilet paper is the way to go. There are a variety of versions and it is much easier and more comfortable than using dry.

She will have a very sore bottom if she doesn't wipe properly.

Not to mention the poo smells already mentioned!

She definately needs to get this sorted before the dreaded periods start - then there will be a whole new range of personal hygiene hell to contend with.

Good luck!

Have you taken her to the GP to check if she has some kind of digestion problem? Might be making it all a bit worse.

My ds has just been diagnosed with dyspraxia and finding toilet wiping difficult is one symptom. She might be hiding her fear of failure under a 'don't care attitude'. Just a thought.
