...not just the saddest children's book ever, but simply the saddest book ever?

Just read it with DD for the first time and had tears streaming down my face and her asking, "what's happened to your eyes, Mummy?"

Bloody book should carry a health warning!

I bought the book after it was on Friends but always miss out the weird bit about the mum crawling in the window. It's really touching that way but otherwise it's totally creepy.

Well, I think the mum climbing though the bedroom window is sweet. she only does it untill he meets his wife.

We once saw a car with a lader on topl and I said to DS, "Look, there's a parent off to hug thier grown up child."
