Seriously, I am a total newbie here (well in the last couple of weeks) and have enjoyed the freedom of speach especially (dare I say it on "suspected trolls posts). I think it livened up the days. So I find it quite sad when subjects are deleted just because the subject got heated. Is that not what freedom of speach is all about??????????

No. Freedom of speech means = freedom from interference by government. It certainly doesn't mean that a private site owner forfeits the right to censor what is written on his or her site.

I'm giving you a literal answer because I get tired of the assertion that we all have a right to say what we want, where we want, without question. Mumsnet has a posting policy. They're 'house rules', if you will.

I like a good dust-up as much as the next poster, and all, but I think it's pretty rude to come onto someone else's site and complain about their rules.

(Sorry, by 'no' I meant to disagree with your last line, not your title.)

Threads aren't deleted just because things get heated - an entire thread has to be pretty serious or dodgy to be considered for deletion. However single posts may be deleted if they contain personal attacks or if the original poster requests that it be deleted, among other things. If you go to the talk homepage and click on "rules and policy" it says this:

" Our policy is to keep intervention to a minimum and let the conversation flow. Having said that, we will remove postings that are obscene, contain personal attacks or break the law. Please do bear in mind how difficult this parenting business can be, and if there's one thing all of us could do with, it's some moral support. "
