Yeah I reckon a good bit of hows your father is certainly the way forward. Have to admit the 'cervix bashing' does make me cringe a bit tho -YACK! I'll be giving it a go tonight as I'm 38 weeks and have been cleaning like a mad woman having 'fake' contractions and 'trickling' for the last couple of days. I've got a 4yr old behaving badly as everyone keeps asking when the babies coming in front of her aswell so she's fabricating tummy aches and got in to our bed at 5am this morning. Lovely! The trouble with semen though is that it can be mistaken for the mucous plug when it finally exits which can be a lot later on..like a couple of days. Anyway sorry for me waffle -go for it I carried just present your rear end doggy style and think of England hahahahah!

Definately an urban myth started by men..Balloonslayer..like the one that says 'sperm gives women a great protein facial'..let him cum in your face and you will have clear skin yeah right

I think any strategy to get things going, only work if you are right on the cusp of starting labour anyway.

we tried it last night and ... I'm still sat here in my dressing gown this morning. was VERY funny though - would recommend for sheer comedic value

Midwife, said the other day it's the only proven thing to work.... well the sperm anyway....

It possibly worked for me last time.... 1-2 days after my waters released...

me and DP had a blazing row just before labour started. contractions started 20mins after he stomped off to bed,

all because he didnt want me to walk DS to playschool in the morning......DS didnt go anyway as i was in labour. hehe. so DP got his way in the end.

Last time ( august monday bank holiday evening ) DP said, would'nt it be funny if you went into labour tonight.... I wouldnt have to go into work...... 12.30am... Voila

Another one here saying it is effective, though obviously only as a final nudge if the baby is almost ready anyway. So it won't work if you're not near that point.

After all, if they have to induce you, they'll often start with a prostaglandin pessary anyway, which is the same chemicals, just delivered to the same place by a man in a white coat...

I think fast, furious and preferably orgasmic sex can work, yes.

semen contains prostaglandins, but in order for them to induce labour, it is necessary to lie on your back, pelvis raised (on pillows?), legs in air (against wall?) to ensure the semen is in prolonged contact with your cervix. This will give the PG a chance to take effect (similar to the pessary of chemical PG they will give you to induce)

Hence why this worked probably - cos she stayed lying down and fell asleep and didnt get straight up and allow for gravity to take effect........

curry, a fall down a steep flight of stairs, and a shag worked for me - 2 out of the 3 I would recommend!

I did sex,pineapple,hot curry,castor oil,rides in bumpy cars,rasperry leaf and scrubbed the house from top to bottom - oh and nipple stimulation .......he still didnt come out.

In all fairness it did take induction,rupture of the membranes,forceps,ventuose and a c section to get him out .
