to think that charging 1 yr olds £9 to be in a theatre is a rip off?

Will be taking DD1 to a childrens show, classed as 3+ yrs; I think £9 a ticket for young children is a bit steep - but can live with that. However, the theatre wants to charge me another £9 to bring along my 14 month old, who, though she might enjoy the general hullabaloo, will not need a seat, will not understand what's going on and who most likely will just want to go to sleep in my arms (or squirm to get out of the hall).

AIBU to think that charging one year olds is daylight robbery? And what is a fair age? I'd say two - just like the airlines...

it is a tricky one tbh. theatre ticket prices are normally heavily subsidised anyway so it is not like they are ripping off toddlers adn then cackling all the the way to bank.

Hmm.. good point; but I think I still have a case - especially as she doesn't need a seat & I would have to bring my DP along (at full price) to look after her or other DD. This way they loose a sale after all, as DP will now be going for a walk instead of coming to the theatre.. it's a bit of a loose-loose situation for all parties now

Perhaps they can only have a certain number of people (of whatever age) in there for fire regs, and by admitting your baby they can't admit somebody else
