It's winter, it's dark, LOs are in bed asleep and someone rings the doorbell asking me to give him my direct debit details so they can send me junk mail for the rest of my life. I told him it was late for him to be knocking on doors and he said he had a license to be out til 8:30. I don't care what he's legally allowed to do, at that time of night I'm enjoying not having DD swinging off my trouser leg and having a bit of time to meself.

yanbu I tend to ignore the door anytime after 2pm unless I'm expecting something

pigletmania · 26/01/2010 20:47

YANBU what PITAS they are. I was very rude to one who came about 8pm, they came firstly about 3pm i looked through the window saw that it was them and ignored the door. Bang bang bang on the door at about 8pm dd was having a right paddy going to bed, i was stressed and tired and was basically rude to him, well serves him right for coming in the evening. I opened the door as i thought that it was my friend who i was expecting.

The knocking would frighten my elderly neighbour at this time of the evening.

YANBU. I don't envy them their job but I would still be black affronted if they rang my bell at 8:00 -- I am generally just dropping with exhaustion after the post-bedtime tidy up.

yanbu

I am in pjs and dressing gown

wouldnt want to open the door dressed like this but would feel i had to in case it was neighbours with an emergency who know we're in

southeastastra · 26/01/2010 20:54

they should only be allowed to know whilst it's light. if at all

Chulita · 26/01/2010 20:55

I only opened it cos I'm expecting a delivery and last time they came about half 6. Had another one the other day come at feeding time, when I said that DD was in her highchair just about to eat he said 'are you sure you don't have a couple of minutes' He obviously has never fed a 14 month old!
