I had to re read your post Loudlass. Outrageous. OP YANBU. My dd has lost countless things she doesn't wear a uniform which I am very about. If I go to the lost property at her school I am amazed at what people lose. Like someone else said, don't you know your dc has lost a pair of shoes/swimming kit/ice skates/coat.................the list of the peculiar is endless.

We had several parents who used to go through lost property looking to upgrade. Had to move it from being an open access to once a week with an adult supervising it.

Good grief Goblin, I think I live so far from reality I am going to find it hard to return to England (if and when we do). My dd's lost property is a reflection of her school, lots of designer (or at least GAP, esprit and orchestra) I shall have to rethink my lost property checking strategy.

Ours too Kreecher - various bits of Burberry and Ralph Lauren in there last time I looked (looked just as skeggy as the rest of it though!).

"DS has had 2 complete sets of sports kit go missing at secondary school. Light fingered pupils in the extreme. I label all PE kit on the outside - then it is less likely to be "borrowed". "

The PE kit we get for DCs secondary comes with their initials printed on the front, even their sports bag. You don't have to have it, but it is only a very small extra cost. Doesn't stop them losing it though

Lost clothes at school. Very common in all schools for loss of clothes and I think schools should take responsibility for it. Especially at primary school where the child can’t be expected to have that responsibility. What’s people views?

TheSandgroper · 13/05/2019 10:24

I asked the PE teacher once to line up each class as she had them, to ask them to take off their hats (no hat, no play so they were all wearing one) and if it wasn't their own name inside to put their hand up. DD has her hat returned to her from a girl three classes away.

Not every teacher will do this but some will.
