To be furious that the only girls jeans in the shops are skinny low-rises?!!

DD is 3 but tall for her age and so tends to wear up to an age 5 in most clothes. I just spent an hour trying to find her a pair of jeans and am just maddened that they are all low-rise, tight skinnies! How are you supposed to climb a climbing frame in a pair of those. Generally also infuriated by the clothes in the shops. Sparkly tat which is totally age-inappropriate. There is a black satin ball gown in Hennes with a gold Hello Kitty on it. It starts at age 18 months.. Wrong wrong wrong. Rant over.

I know what you mean. That why I tend to buy dd1 & 2 boys jeans. As they tend to be bigger (esp T shirts) and not tight fitting.

It's the same as why are all skirts so short that you have to put leggings under them so you not see their knickers all the time.

Yes, I think that might be the way to go. Especially as also have 15 mth old DS. Its just so sad that if you're a girl you're not allowed to play at cowboys (if the buyers at most of the high st shops had their way)... And don't get me started on the colours.. Pink pink pink pinkety sodding pink.

I know what you mean, all my girl mindies jeans are always falling down or exposing their backs!

Just buy boy jeans, not as though the kids are a different shape at that age so it doesn't matter.

Gap at excellent for taller skinny kids. DS wears an 8 now for the length and they still have the adjustable waists so I can pull them in.

dd just got some of these. Similar in dark or stonewashed with button elastic waist.

Thanks Liz for this link - they look fine. I agree with you Sydney. I have trouble getting clothes for my grand-daughter. She is 9 and on the heavy side (not fat) and quite tall and the clothes all seem to be skinny and covered in tat as you say.

I was trying to get her PJs recently and the slogans on them for girls in the 7 - 11 age range in Debenhams were awful e.g. "Partied out" - "Too little sleep too many parties" "Girly night in - DVD nails, makeup" for a 9 year old FGS. I mentioned this to one of the assistants and she agreed with me. Its the buyers of course who are to blame but presumably they buy what they know will sell. Sad really - childhood is short enough - why try to rush them into teenagers.
