To put £160 through the wash and tumble dry it?

Because it was in DP's jeans, he had left them on the bathroom floor on top of a pile of other dirty clothes, and I scooped them all up and chucked them in the washing machine late last night.

I never check pockets- it's my view that it's tough shit if you've forgotten to empty them, I don't see why I should have to sort out people's grotty tissues/hairclips/money etc. If it's in the dirty laundry pile it's your responsibility, as far as I can see.

Of course, DP is saying that the jeans weren't in the dirty laundry pile, "just lying on top of it for now"

Luckily, money seems to be made from stronger stuff these days, and it looks battered but unbowed...the pen drive in his other pocket has not fared quite so well, but hey ho.

If the money had been a complete gonner, whose fault would it have been?

I always wash the sky remote as it seems to get into the washing
But tbh I think it is his fault not yours as you kindly wash his clothes so it should be his responsibility to check them - my dh leaves shirt stiffeners for his work shirt collars in all the time and I have told him every weekday for 5 years!!!!!

Finders Keepers was the rule in my house growing up. I did a lot of the laundry from about age 11 or so, and it was quite lucrative for me.

Definitely his fault for putting them on the dirty pile, I think you must now go out and buy yourself something nice for £160 to reinforce the message.

I also did Finders Keepers when I cleaned my younger brother's disgusting bedroom for him. Who knew there would be $25 in change? He was most unhappy but couldn't say much.

That's taking money laundering a bit far isn't it.

Ha, ha, ha

I've washed DH's mobile twice (same mobile, still worked after!) by accident, but wouldn't recommend it.

I was more worried about it hurting my Miele washing machine which I utterly love. Couldn't give a stuff about the mobile.

Def agree that the money is now yours. Could turn out to be worth checking trouser pockets incase you get another windfall??

His fault for definite

My dh is very good turning everything inside out before putting in the laundry basket (thank you MIL, rip). The rule in ou house is if he puts it in the washing basket it's his responsibility, when I grab it off a chair or wherever because IMHO it needs washing it's mine.

ooh spilt with you on the Miele...

I always check pockets; I don't want my machine ruined.

My friend who is a washing repair man says that most of his business is a result of pocket debris.
