To think that a woman having fantasies about being raped is not an excuse for someone to rape them?

I was really shocked by this article in the Guardian

I know that it is impossible to know what really happened, but it seems extraordinary to me that a judge can use the fact that a woman shared fantasies about being raped as a reason that she should forfeit the right to a trial.

I feel that this just confirms that there is still a huge amount of prejudice against people, women in particular, with adventurous sexual tastes and views and that they are viewed as somehow 'deserving it' if something bad happens to them.

and they wonder why we have such a small number of rape victims willing to come forward and press charges.

In defence of Peter Tatchell he notes that 'All nine media reports of this case give the same account. I presume they are accurate.' He does not suggest that he's read the court transcript.

I think this case, on the face of it, sounds appalling. I think that a fantasy is frequently intended to remain just that and there is no intention to act it out. But anyway, her fantasy was said to be group sex, not rape, and as I understand that very few rape allegations reach the court, the CPS must have felt that her case was arguable. I hope the CPS consider appealling this.

Fantasies are simply fantasies though, many women have rape fantasies, it doesn't mean they actually want to be raped.

Anyone who does not understand that is a bit of a dullard, to be honest.

And yes WTF does having group sex fantasy, mean that you want to be RAPED by a gang of men???

it's all so depressing.

The fact that she had agreed to meet ONE man, which was presumably on teh online things they were looking at ie they can prove that is what she said, and when she got there, there was more than one man, well that's kind of pointing in the direction of not consenting isn't it, even before you look at amy other evidence.

Poor woman.
