...cannabis, play inappropriate computer games (eg GTA), let them get drunk, etc... should be prosecuted for child neglect. Not just the ones that nearly kill people.

EdgarAllenSnow, you can be neglected by your parents and not commit horrific crimes! Also, I don't think 'enormous' numbers of preteens drink and stay out late- perhaps some but not in great numbers.

I think this is where the problem lies - if a number of people view these activities to be 'normal' pursuits of a preteen, then children will continue to suffer!

While we are judging (?) - should a woman who stays with a violent husband bear some of the responsibility? Should the makes of violent games/ violent porn be responsible (yes, they may not be intending their products to be for children but they must know that is a risk they are taking (or to be used/watched by mentally unstable etc etc))
Whole thing makes me so angry, not least that the boys were allowed to become so aggressive.
A big black mark for Britain and our parenting. Hope the victims are doing OK...

Does anyone know if they've been allowed to keep their other children?
