whereas when I was pregnant with my first and my second, we were skimping and saving, bargain hunting, buying and selling on ebay, etc,

and now?
I am old, sad and fat. (and slightly drunk) But we could quite easily afford babystuff.

A lot about being too old is about how the individual feels. I consider myself too old to have children - I just don't have the energy I had in my twenties. I am sure there are other people in their thirties and forties who feel fit enough to cope with sleepless nights, but I don't.

mrsboogie · 22/01/2010 23:22

37? too old? don't be daft! get away outta that woman!

unless you have entered the menopause prematurely?

I am 42 with a 17 month old and if there was any hint of a possibility of the little terror sleeping through the night I would be contemplating having another one.

and I am well fat. fat as a fat thing.

money's irrelevant.

mrsboogie · 22/01/2010 23:24

spd, however is not irrelevant. Just saw that.

I saw my london chirpractor in december (flying visit) as I had such pain lying down, and some of my old problems seems to be resurfacing, so I am still not "well". I think I would possibly need to see a chiro regularly throughout any pregnancy.

Wait until your children have children and then force your expensive baby clobber on to your ungrateful DIL.

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 22/01/2010 23:31

lol!

Though, I have 2 sons, I guess I will be lucky if I get to see my grandkids once a year.

Oh go on with you!
Too old never heard such rot,

I was 32 and 35 when I had mine.

Get it on..

Mandy1966 · 23/01/2010 08:42

Oh and I was a comfortable size 16 at the time

Stannie · 23/01/2010 09:58

My DS is 4 months old and I will be 34 in July.. if I have another I will be around 37 when I do but I don't consider that old and am not worried at all about it!

Go do what you want to do if you can bear the SPD (I hated that and mine was only mild so god knows what those who have it badly feel like )

FWIW - we didn't skimp on baby things but we didn't buy the really expensive stuff either.. we bought what we needed.. also have a Graco buggy - much to the disgust of some of my Bugaboo/Quinny pushing friends

Stannie · 23/01/2010 10:00

Also, I'm another one that is built for comfort and not for speed and no lack of eating is ever going to change it.

pranma · 23/01/2010 18:00

Wait till you are a granny then you can buy all the lovely stuff and leave the necessities to the dp.

Mumsnut · 23/01/2010 18:04

47 here, me with a two-year-old ...

(Size 16 and a bit)

To DuelingFanjo:

Just wanted wish you good luck. And to say to anyone that's trying to conceive that:

I am 40 and did worry about being able to conceive again after I took nearly 2 years to conceive our only daughter. However, I have conceived TWICE IN THREE MONTHS (lost a baby in Nov 09) and the only thing I've done differently is listening to Zita West's CD. Honestly.

I swear I don't get paid commission for saying this. In fact I wrote to the Zita West clinic with my happy news 3 months ago and was a bit dissappointed when they didn't even acknowledge my email. But who cares?? I'm pregnant again and that is amazing.

Love and luck to everyone!

stirringbeast · 28/01/2010 14:31

It's true.

When you have 3 dcs under 5 you're crammed into a tiny box house then when they've all left home you'll be able to afford a nice big Victorian house with all this space you don't need.

duchesse · 28/01/2010 14:32

you are certainly not old!!
