There are some things that customer services shouldn't have to deal with and this is probably one of thembut am really peeved as had to buy a new bikini trimmer today as old fab ones hair length guidy thing has gone AWOL meaning a buzz cut with bloody scabs if unless used with extreme dexterity which I don't have.

It was £17 from boots (boots own brand) and it just doesn't cut the hairs properly seems blunt, leaves a really uneven finish, takes ages and ages and if you try and adjust the hair trimmer the battery back falls off- it's useless! I might have well have used scissors except for the fact am 38 weeks pregnant and can't see what am doing! (wanted to be nice and trim for the midwives haha!) Am so tempted to take it back but that's really gross isn't it? Do I just suck up the loss of 17 and put it down to experience? I spose once bub is here I shall nevermore have need for a neatly trimmed fanjo. But bah!

Just take it back in - the staff in Boots deal with MUCH more embarrassing things!

Thandeka, send them a link to this thread; it's Friday afternoon and Boots customer services need the might of Mumsnet on an anti-muff mangling crusade like they need a hole in the head. Remember the Tony and Guy thread and the panic that ensued at their head office? Good luck!

Print the customer services reponse off, find a male sales assistant, hand both over, he will run like the wind to the till and give you cash.

I would save yourself the postage costs, write the letter, put it in a bag with the offending article. Take it into Boots and say you would like to return the item and you would like a refund but given it's intimate nature, you would prefer not to explain but have spelt it all out in a letter. Choose someone who looks likely to be equally embarassed and I'm sure they will refund straightaway. Boots are usually pretty good at returns. Better still, in your condition, get someone else to return it for you!!
