to think that The Orphanage is a better film than Pan's Labyrinth?

I thought both were amazing films, but watched The Orphanage first. When I watched Pan's Labyrinth, I think I was expecting a huge twist at the end and I felt a bit disappointed when there wasn't one.

I also cried buckets at TO but didn't cry at PL although I did find it sad.

I hear so many people say that PL is the best and saddest film they have ever seen, so is it just me ??

You can't accuse Glaswegians of being softies surely?

theChicofit have you seen AI artificial intelligence ? Different type of film si fi but very sad .

TheChicOfIt · 23/01/2010 10:54

kerstina - yes I have seen it, but it was pre motherhood. I did find it very sad, but I would probably have found it worse if I'd seen it after having ds.
I just thought The Orphanage was quite a believable story (although obviously not to sceptics), and I liked the fact that they made you think that Simon had been kidnapped by the kids on the other side, when in actual fact it was a much simpler thing that had happened to him.

I just don't know how you would deal with that as a mother, knowing that he had been there all that time, trying to bang on the door for help, and the mother thinking it was the spirits .

Yes very believable and very haunting you can totally understand why the mother did what she did when she realised hers sons fate. I have TO on dvd so might watch it again soon( by myself so i can have a good cry !)
