in not wanting to go to a do

I am due on Sunday. DH has to run a cheese and wine night for our Rotary club on the 5th February - by which point I could still be overdue as I would be 41+5. I have told him I won't be going as I will either be very overdue or have an extremely young baby.

He thinks AIBU and I should get one of our sets of parents to babysit. I should point out here that I intend to BF; DH seems to be under the impression that babies come with a switch that makes them sleep/feed/whatever just when you want them to and I don't seem to be able to convince him otherwise. He really doesn't seem to think our lives are going to change that much.

AIBU in thinking that going out from 5pm until midnight with a tiny baby is not reasonable ?

oh, he really doesn't get it does he!! Mind you, my friend did exactly this, left her 2 week old with ILs so they could go to a wedding and not have worry about what time they went home - i didnt comment on it as the would have been very apparent im afraid. Its just plain weird

It was the fact that he thought some 60 year olds might like to look after a 2-4 week old newborn for 24 hours that really tickled me, Lucyellensmum.
As others have said, I think I will just smile and nod at his next "how hard can it be to have a baby" scheme

hmmm, im thinking, maybe YOU go to the do and leave the baby with him overnight

hahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!! Men DO say the silliest things don't they. YANBU. Your DH probably thinks he's being reasonable but hasn't a clue. He will when the time comes so don't fret.

I know a couple who thought they'll be able to do major DIY (building work) and decorating with a newborn baby in tow. DH & I had a good chortle over that one, nearly 4 years later they still haven't STARTED it.

Relax, chill. You won't be going to the do (unless you want to of course).
