Well is DH really - to object to children standing in trolleys

He had a rant after going to the supermarket about children standing/sitting in the main part of the trolley (as opposed to the special child seat). He thinks this is vile because you put food in there, and should be banned and gave the woman he saw doing it with her child a mucky look

So is he being unreasonable, should children be allowed in the main part of the trolley?

I regularly give my 4 yr old a spin in the Tesco trolley.

Does your DH sanitise the whole trolley before touching it / putting food in it, then? Just think of the snotty, grotty filthy hands that have been all over that trolle

Your husband sounds a bit anal.
I let my youngest (3 yr old) stand in the trolley or I would never make it round the supermarket in less then three hours
He would be running around the aisles and going insane with boredom
I bet he is the type to moan about that too

Thanks for the replies.

Do you know, I am surprised that he is bothered by this (I don't give a shit) because is not at all anal about things or a germphobe. Usually really easy going and chilled about things.

I have told him that everyone agrees with me that he is utterly ridiculous.

IT IS DANGEROUS! My childhood friend had an ugly scar on her face from such an accident aged 5. She was quite traumatised and became a very very cautious little girl after that.

If I was your DH and was so concerned about the lack of hygiene with regards to supermarket trolleys I wouldnt give a toss about the basket part and childrens footwear would be the least of my worries.

Now the handle, thats a different story, the amount of people that have grasped it with their mucky germ riddled hands after going to the loo and most likely not washing their hands and then maybe sneezing into their hands and then merrily pushing the trolley through the frozen food section...

Your husband is being a tad unreasonable.
