to find oil central heating the most annoying thing in the whole world ever?

I've had oil heating since October. I have just run out of oil for the second time. ARGH. and and ARGH.

So now we have no heat for 24 hours, stupid heating. THere is no gauge on the side of the oil tank, I have no idea how much I'm using. Stupid blooming system! And obviously, stupid me for not realising that the £150 I put in would only last 6 weeks. I know it's been cold, but I NEVER leave it on overnight, and it's rarely on all day.) That is VERY EXPENSIVE, especially considering we also pay out £40 a month in electricity!

[i'm an idiot emoticon]

YANBU, but that's how it is.

I used to live in north greece, very heavy winters with a lot of snow and oil was the only central heating option back then.

We had a gauge at the side of the tank and used to check so we never ran out, but used to pay around 2000euros a year to heat a little three badroom flat. And that was only mornings and evenings as we were all out during the day...

It's a local firm, they were the absolute cheapest. Most of the bigger ones don't seem to cover NI. It was £110 for 200 litres, which I truly hope will be here soon (I am wearing many jumpers!) 500l will be £243, I'm going to buy that when we get paid, hopefully that will see us through the rest of the winter.

can someone link me to watchman sounds like im going to be needing onenovice oil user here

thank you

We find it cheaper, perhaps because we are very conscious of the fact that everytime we put our heating on the oil tank is going down in the garden. We only have the heating on when we really need it.

I don't expect to pay more than £500 a year for my heating.

here phoenix
we have one of these.veryuseful to just literally plug into to any socket in the house, it takes a while to register through to the tank and then it tells you the level you tank is on. If it's really low it starts flashing

DH works in a plumbing merchant and he install our heating so I have no idea how much it costs, but if he's bought us one i'd say it's an essential!

I just paid 222 for 500 litres but thats only cause I needed it the same day and they would deliver it before 12. £243 does seem more than any quotes I got, the cheapest one was £208. I'm in NI to our gauage didn't work for ages but we mmanaged to use a pole till it was fixed.,

Phoenix4725 · 20/01/2010 05:17
