I know this is weird, but I actually quite like it... it is slightly sweet, slightly eggy like custard.
I?m not a total freak, I don?t like the smell of other children?s poo.
Whether it?s because there?s a sense of satisfaction that she?s actually eaten something (she?s a ?picky? eater)

or whether it?s a bit like smelling your own fart...

I know what you mean about there being a sweetness to it. Up to my DD turning one I thought it smelled a bit like rice pudding. Feel so normal now I know I wasn't the only one, thanks!

i thought i was wierd! i like the smell of ds2's poo too, ds1's i liked untill he was out of nappies at 2.6 but now at 3.9 he stinks the bathroom out! and i LOVE the smell of ds2's farts i think the best time is when they are eb though!

GetDownYouWillFall · 17/01/2010 21:25

I actually had to ring my mother to come round and change DD once when she was about 4 months old and on Colief. The smell was like nothing of this universe and I was sick every time I went near her. Luckily, my mother was only down the road at the time.

CornishKK · 17/01/2010 21:26

My DS poo smelt like warm digestive biscuits, until he started solids at Christmas. Now it smells like shit.

No don't hide! I am rather squeamish but was surprised at how I was not disgusted by dd's poo. I should have been.

I will spare details.

I just assumed it was an evolutionary thing.

I have really noticed that my DH's farts smell just like Ds's poo! And they don't always eat the same things!

[I obviously neither fart nor poo and I am a laydeeeeeee]

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 17/01/2010 22:14

My DS poo smells just like my own (foul) which is hardly suprising as we eat the exact same things. He's 16mths btw. Before he started solids his EBF poo did smell alright though, I must admit.

TabithaTwitchet · 17/01/2010 22:41

I couldn't say I like the smell of DD's.
But I find it perfectly tolerable, whereas I find the smell of any other child's totally disgusting (our local John Lewis has multiple changing stations, and I can only take DD in there when it is empty, lest my delicate nostrils are assailed by the contents of another child's nappy )

MoChan · 17/01/2010 22:44

Agree about EBF poo, smells like warm bread or similar. Cannot claim to like smell of LOs poo since weaning stage, however...

Maleeka · 17/01/2010 22:45

oh dear god!!!

LittlePeanut · 17/01/2010 22:52

I'm with the OP. Weird I know, but I've always quite liked the smell of DD's poo. when she was a tiny baby I actively sniffed it and felt satisfaction that she was "all working correctly". These days I don't exactly like the smell (she's nerly 4) but it is utterly tolerable.

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 17/01/2010 22:54

I thought I was weird. I like the smell of fresh carpets.

tiredlady · 17/01/2010 22:59

I love this thread! I thought it was just me. I LOVED the smell of my dcs poo when they were EBF. Even when they moved on to solids it still wasn't that offensive. I thought more people would feel the same tbh

stainesmassif · 17/01/2010 22:59

not a poo fan here, but i remember thinking when ds went onto solids that i quite liked the smell of yoghurt sick on my clothes at work!

SparkyfartDust · 17/01/2010 23:15

I used to like the smell of dd's poo when they were newborn and even when they were beginning to be weaned.

I also like the smell of horse poo.

My mother likes to eat a certain type of honey cos it reminds her of horse poo

Olifin · 17/01/2010 23:19

Has anyone else noticed that goats' cheese actually tastes like goats smell?

Disenchanted3 · 17/01/2010 23:21

I do too she is one.

BrahmsThirdRacket · 17/01/2010 23:31

I would imagine it's an evolutionary thing - nature makes you like your own child's 'smell' so that you will look after it. Same with the newborn smell thing (which I have never understood)
