To think that banks shouldn't have FECKING COMPUTERS MAKING ALL THE BLOODY DECISIONS?????

My son has been awarded a significant amount of money for a birth injury. I am to be a trustee, along with my solicitor. Today we went to the bank to open the trust account. It has been declined due to a low credit rating (mine!)

I said, what on earth has the fact that I ran a business several years ago that went under and bankrupted me got to do with the fact that I want you to hold a very great deal of money for my son.

I am not asking for credit! I don't want a loan or an overdraft. I want to GIVE YOU MONEY TO HOLD ONTO and have it invested.

But apparently, the computer system has spoken and there is not a single human being who has the authority to override it and say actually, under these circumstances, the credit rating doesn't actually matter, we will accept the money and hold it for you.

It makes NO FUCKING SENSE!!!

I swear my head is going to explode. If there is any banker on here who can explain it to me - by way of an actual, logical, sensible reason and not "the computer won't let us", I shall actually give to you personally the whole fecking fund.

I want and need to be one of the trustees. ffs, the other one is a SOLICITOR!!! All cheques must be signed by both of us. What do they think I am going to do? Steal? steal from my son??? Just because I lost my business I am an untrustworthy person? I don't even want any of THEIR money, just a place to store my SON'S!!!

AARRRGGGGHHHHHH

fucking banks fucking bonuses

Good luck HeQet - a friend used to work for a high st bank. When the bank offered redundancy a few years ago he took it and got the f**k out of dodge. He's been unemployed ever since but despite being in his 40s and having to move back in with his mum(!) he says he should have got out years ago. Dunno what his mum thinks of the situation. Banks are bastards even if you work for them. Unless you're Fred Goodwin.

Bumping in case you weren't around earlier.

Go to Barclays, they will help you.

Banks god bless them tend to be looking out for good business opportunities. They want savings customers to also be borrowers, preferably the kind that default periodically and have to pay fines. If you don't meet their dream borrower profile, they may not be interested in doing business with you at all. You might have a sizeable chunk of cash to lend them, but if that's all you offer as a potential customer, they're going to take the view that they can borrow on much better terms elsewhere.

thanks folks. well, I wrote another, rather nasty (well they send enough to me ) to those people who haven't updated their records - lowell, hillesden - have googled them and apparently they are famous for it! They sell your details to each other and harass the crap out of you. Well, tough titty, I've already had everything done to me that can be done to me and it's all over now.

So like I say, I sent them another letter - recorded delivery, and a copy of the entries in my credit report that show they haven't closed it, and said I would report them to the ICO.

Had a letter back from lowell, apologising and promising to deal with it. Am yet to hear anything from hillesden.

hbos is out, they don't want a quarter of a million pounds it seems. so am trying another bank.
