I had to go to the shop today and as we still have snow here and can't get DDs buggy out, I had her in the back carrier.

we got to the end of the road and a car was driving on the path, he then beeped his horn and shouted at me to move and he still came closer to us! Thank god I did move I dread to think what could have happened.

YANBU
The other morning on the way to nursery with my DS a car did just this. Mounted the pavement and drove along behind us until she could turn the car around. I was very cross. Even I as a non-driver know pavements are for pedestrians!!

upahill · 15/01/2010 15:43

Of course they shouldn't and people shouldn't be walking in the middle of the soddin' main roads either!!! Silly bastards have nearly been run over by everythign from cyclist, (who normally get bad press)to big delivery trucks.

But in my village I quite often have to walk in the middle of the road (fairly busy B road) because of the cars parked all over the pavement.

Nessa, you should have got that arrogant gits numberplate and reported him.

Grimma..I'm talking about my town. Cars weren't parked on pavements in this paticular area and the road is a good 4 miles long. Cars are parked corrctly on both sides the road side but people were walking on the road. So by the time you have taken the width of the cars parked on either side and then the people are walking agood few inches away from the car so they are not bumping into wing mirrors they are taking up the width of the drivng side of the road!I understand that the pavements are icy in which case they should put some appropiate shoes on. I do know what I am talking about because yesterday was the first time I have driven since a week before Christmas and I've walked to work and everywhere!!!

How scary! YANBU.

A similar thing happened to me recently, taking ds in the sling to the creche at 7:30am - very early and it was still very dark. Suddenly in front of me a very bright light shone and a horn beeped - it was a motorbike on the pavement, delivering newspapers! It freaked me out, it's not what you expect on the pavement.

belgo · 15/01/2010 16:00

This is also why I hate cars parked in driveways - they always have to cross the pavement to come out, and they just don't look out for children when reversing out. Of course I watch out for my children, but I wish they could run a few metres ahead of me on the pavement in safety.

It is actually against the law, I believe.

Cars can be ticketed for it.

Call your local Council and ask them to sending a parking enforcement officer round.

Nessarose · 15/01/2010 16:07

I had my phone with camra and got a photo of him with no plate, when I got home I called the police and they sent a PC out (hes just gone) they are going to trace him and fine him. I am just so mad about it.

Well done for taking the photo!

Parking Enforcement officers are brilliant! In a town in my countythere are many steep side road, after the first day of snow cars couldn't move without fear of slipping. In many residential areas there is no parking between the hours of 8.00am - 6.00pm.Fair enough most of the time I say. The whole lot got ticketed!! Never mind if the car slipped it could have gone straight into a main road and potentially caused a fatal acident.

There has been such an outcry! Their local paper had evidence of the Caravelles that they drive full feckin' 'traffic enablers' being droppped off round the town early in the morning to book people.

Community Spirit eh? Bollocks!

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 15/01/2010 16:18

One day when I was walking the dses home from school, a car mounted the pavement because he didn't want to have to wait in a tiny queue of traffic to turn left.

I stood in front of him, pounded on his bonnet, shouted at him, and forced him back onto the road/

Nessa - I hope the police catch this tw*t and give him the bollocking of his life - idiots like that shouldn't have a tv licence, let alone a driving licence!!
