AIBU to be feeling a bit lost?

After nearly 5 years of being needed 24/7 both of my children are now in education. DS is in full time school and DD has just started nursery (3 half days and one full day a week).

My house is spotless for the first time in YEARS and now I don't know what to do with myself! I feel like a spare part just sat around waiting for pick up time so I can be 'needed' again

I want my babies home!!

What do others in my situation DO all day?!

Volunteering at school with reading/walking to and from swimming lessons, volunteering at local playgroups, doing OU degree, MNing, ... oh where does the time go?

I amtrying to talk dh into letting me have a dog.

LOL the MNing is taking over a bit though.

I have put my name down for helping out at school but have to wait for the CRB forms to come back which could take a few weeks.

I'm just so BORED!!

TBH, if this is the first time you have had a proper break in five years I would just sit back and ENJOY it for a bit!! Depending on where you live, get out and visit the shops/galleries/cinema whatever, read all the books you've never had a chance to (or even just the Sunday papers that you never manage to read on sunday!) and don't feel guilty.

YANBU, I felt exactly like this when DC3 started school, even though I worked 3 days a week. He has always been a handfull so kept me busy all the time, when he was at school, I felt like someone had removed my left arm, part of me was definitely missing!
My answer was to have my sterilisation reversed and have another DC.
Only thing is, 2 years later, we've had a little accident and DC no 5 is on her way, NOW my hands will be full!
You could try my option and have another little one?????

That's half the problem five. I lost my DD at 30 weeks last year so shouldn't actually be on my own!

It is that 'left arm missing' feeling definitely!

I even polished my bathroom for the first time EVER this morning after reading about it on MN last week lol. I know I should be enjoying the time on my own but I get bored after an hour, or if I read I end up falling asleep!

I'm sure I'll be ready for the weekend to be over once they're both home later though!

So sorry for your loss mylifemykids, I can't even imagine how hard it's been for you. I know HUGS are frowned upon here on MN, but you sound like you need a big one!
It sounds like you've already taken steps to start working with kids if you're waiting for your CRB check to come back. I hope it's sorted soon and enjoy being busy with the school etc.x
