to think road markings still apply even if there is snow on them?

it's causing additional problems round here. We have had loads of snow and more is falling right now. A number of the road off of the main road are just about passable but are reduced to single track, at the ends of these roads are double yellow lines, they are there for a reason and these are even more applicable given the current weather conditions, but people are parking right up to the ends of the roads making travel even more dangerous because the double yellow lines are covered by snow.

Well if ppl know they are double yellows then yes they are be TU but some people might be doing it unknowingly.
I accidently parked in a disabled space the other day but didnt realise because it was covered in snow. I only realised when I returned to the car because a few spaces up there was a sign. I felt terrible though.

People shouldn't be parking right up to the junction whether or not they can see double yellow lines - if you can see that it makes the junction dangerous, then you shouldn't park there.

The disabled parking question is different - if you can't see it's a disabled bay, you can't necessarily guess. I parked in a "loading only" bay the other day, because the markings were hidden under the snow and there was nothing on any sign about it.

YANBU

There were a load of cars parked on double yellows causing a huge problem along one of our roads the other day. Looked like it was people who lived in the cul-de-sac nearby cos it was covered in ice/snow so no excuse for them parking on yellows really.

And I nearly got run over by a driver suddenly deciding to squeeze his car into the gap between two parent and child spaces (with cars in)

and why is it that they still think the rules of road dont apply, people kept pulling out on us at roundabouts the other day and then look at us as if to say "you have to be nice and let me go it's snowing" bloody idiots, nothing bloody changes that especially not the weather. oh yeah and you wallies who wanna park on a corner, maybe you should think again.

omg crafty i cant believe some nutter would try doing that i would have mad.

the people parked there i think are people who live at the top of the road and have parked at the bottom or main roads to be able to get to work, as only main roads are being gritted, but even so that doesn't give them the right to park where they know there are double yellow lines and no parking signs because of the snow or in 1 hour parking bays but staying all day and night. The buses are struggling because it the cars. The ones which are most annoying are the ones where people obviosuly moved the cars to the main road when the snow was forecast but have now just left them there!!!! you can tell because they are just car shaped mounds of snow.
