chocolate encased calpol (or own brand equivalent )?

OP posts:
snigger · 13/01/2010 13:54

They are totally surplus to requirements. Along with coffee creams - don't dress it up and call it Cappucino Delight, it's a coffee cream. Bleugh.

ClaireDeLoon · 13/01/2010 13:57

YABVU unreasonable and more than a little odd. That said I've never actually tasted calpol.

I love coffee creams, strawberry creams, orange creams and peppermint creams, but prefer all to be dark chocolate.

bamboo · 13/01/2010 14:01

This Christmas was the first year we've had a big tin of sweets (Roses). I was thrilled to discover my dc love all the creams leaving me free to eat all the caramels and nutty ones.

AlpenCrazy · 13/01/2010 14:06

dark chocolate orange creams - english chox section at Harrods, the best EVER. special occasions only. they are enormous and divine.

thumbwitch · 13/01/2010 14:07

A few years ago, Roses ditched the strawberry and orange creams as market research apparently indicated that most people didn't like them - well, they're back now baby! Because, as can be seen from this thread, lots of people still DO like them - and I for one stopped buying Roses until I saw that they had brought them back.

Am still peed off that there are no longer any coffee creams in Revels, but ecstatic that they've taken the peanut ones away!

EvilHRLady · 13/01/2010 14:15

Yes, YABU!
Just before Christmas, Chris Evans had marketing people on from Cadbury, Nestle & one other well known chocolate producer whose name escapes me - and they said that fruit creams are the least popular. I was v , as they were always the first to go when I was a kid.
Happily discovered this Christmas that DH doesn't like them, so I get them all - as you can now tell

PS Tethersend - you are on a roll today, your posts have me LMFAO, emphasis on the F

gagamama · 13/01/2010 14:39

Bleh. You bunch of deviants. The orange and strawberry ones are grim. I was so happy when they took them out of Roses, for a short while they were like some kind of utopian chocolate selection. I was most perturbed to discover that they were back this christmas.

Picnics, Topics, Bountys and Bournvilles always seem to get left over in Heroes and Celebrations.

AlpenCrazy · 13/01/2010 14:59

i would starve myself all week for a topic

emsyj · 13/01/2010 14:59

YABU. They are the only good ones. They're the first and only chocs to go in this house - if anyone wants a whole tin of Quality Street, fully intact but for the orange and strawberry cremes, apply in writing forthwith...

giraffesCantWalkInSnow · 13/01/2010 15:00

if i post my address will you send me the strawberry ones? Oh I love them. mmmm

LetThereBeRock · 13/01/2010 15:10

The coffee Revels are back I'm sure. They were only temporarily replaced by the strawberry flavour. I do hope they are, must buy a packet to check.

I loved the peanut ones, much nicer than the raisin.

pastapestofor6 · 13/01/2010 15:10

have I been unreasonable in always believing that nobody ate these ones
I am shocked by all the yums

Popple · 13/01/2010 15:12

Mmmm, Strawberry Creams make me dribble. They are my favourite sweet in the world...ever. And Roses would definitely beat Quality Street in a fight.

thumbwitch · 13/01/2010 15:17

I used to love going into Woolies for the Pick'n'mix - I'd always get those big strawberry creams, the dome shaped ones, and the Turkish delights of the same brand.

LetThereBeRock - that's good news about the coffee revels! (even though you are a peanut-lovin' heathen IMO )

Pastapesto - yes, YHBVU.

LetThereBeRock · 13/01/2010 15:20

Same here TW.
I remember those strawberry cream and Turkish delight sweets you mention.
I haven't seen the strawberry creams anywhere else since Woolworths folded but my not so local sweetshop sells the latter.

LetThereBeRock · 13/01/2010 15:20

You're just in denial about how lovely the peanut ones are.

cheapskatemum · 13/01/2010 15:28

Am on a diet AND made New Year's Resolution to give up chocolate. Took DS to doctors. How quick was my hand in & out of that QSt tin with orange cream encased in it? It was in my mouth before brain had even remembered above restrictions - muscle memory!

PandaEis · 13/01/2010 15:39

eeew the strawberry ones are D-scust-ing!! (drop dead fred stylee) i cant bear the fruit creamy ones

i dont mind the mint cream bars and coffee creams but otherwise yuck!!

i LOVE the coconut ones mmmmm

AlpenCrazy · 13/01/2010 16:17

nothing beats those strange raspberry coconut ones they used to sell in woolies - raspberry ruffles. recently discovered waitrose sells BARS of them

Itsjustafleshwound · 13/01/2010 16:35

Toothpaste flavoured chocolate (mint) and any chocolate with a fruity taste is just vile and is binned in this house ..

Toffees and fudgy sweets are snuffled ...

DorotheaPlenticlew · 13/01/2010 18:53

I'm sure that Quality Street (or poss Roses) also at one stage did a sort of forest-fruits or berry flavoured cream, in plain choc. 'Twas oval in shape and sort of magenta coloured wrapper, IIRC.

I still think about it sometimes ...

LetThereBeRock · 13/01/2010 19:21

You're right Dorothea. It was a forest fruits cream and they were in Quality Streets.

Nowtheres4 · 13/01/2010 19:27

yabu - i love orange and strawberry creams, more so from the tin of roses though. we are a roses household, as most of those get eaten, i eat the caramel kegs, orange and strawberry creams and the dc eat the rest. h used to eat the nutty ones, will have to send him the tin when we've done with it this year! lol

BendyBob · 13/01/2010 19:32

Yanbu - yeuch to most 'creams' in fact. Esp coffee.

(But I will choke down any old leftover choccy in January when desperate )

thumbwitch · 13/01/2010 23:13

LetTHereBeROck - nope, not denial, they make me sick as! I blame my Dad for feeding us peanut brittle on the 4h car trip north to see our grandparents - carsick every time without fail. Sweet peanut stuff brings it all back...
