To be proud of dd1 for considering her sister at her own expense?

Dd1 seems to have sprouted and now has no clothes, that fit her properly.

We were looking online for some. She picked a few tops and trousers and one set from Tesco online.

When we had gotten to the end of the list she declared that we must look again, because we had forgotten to get dd2 anything. I explained that dd2 had plenty of clothes and she had none. She said it wasn't fair that she was getting all of this and dd2 wasn't getting anything.

I have a limited amount of money, like most people, so told dd1 that it was lovely of her thinking of sister, but that I couldn't afford to get her things and something for her sister.

Normally she is your usual spoilt 6yo. She loves clothes, she loves shopping, nothing is fair and the world revolves around her and her only.

This time she agonised for about 15mins about which of the things she had picked should be put back in order to get dd2 the outfit she had picked for her. She settled on putting back the set she had chose herself.

Luckily when DH came home he told me we weren't spending cash, we had virtual money to spend. So Dd1's things were put safely back into the basket along with an extra pair of jeans we had looked at but decided against.

AIBU to be very proud of her for putting her sister first?

You should be very very proud. She sounds like a lovely little girl.

YANBU!!!!

That is a lovely, generous attitude. You can be proud of yourself, too, because children learn from example.

YANBU, what a lovely kid.

Yes whats virtual money I need some !

ShinyAndNew · 11/01/2010 09:35

Yes she is very lovely. Well where her sister is concerned anyway, most of the time. They do have the usual sibling rivallary, but she likes to look after her. Dd2 looks for dd1 for cuddles when she is upset as often she looks for me.

Virtual money = cash back rewards from DH's work reward site. We got a lot of cashback when we needed a new TV.

How lovely of her

Laquitar · 11/01/2010 09:45

Of course YANBU to be proud. What a fab sister!

You made me smile in a bad morning. I really love it when they do sweet things for their siblings!

What is the gap between them?

ShinyAndNew · 11/01/2010 09:50

Dd1 is just turned 6 and dd2 is 2.7.
