to feel broody when DS2 is only 3 days old...

Struggled with severe tiredness/ part time job and toddler through the first trimester

Loved the second trimester until swine flu panic hit every pregnant women. Not nice

Really did not enjoy the lack of mobilility/ tiredness/ constant need to pee/ aching/ heartburn etc etc in third trimester.

I swore throughout the whole pregnancy that this was our second and last one. Not too many children, can keep my part time job and juggle two little ones etc etc...

And now, I gaze at my wonderful DS2, smell his lovely milky newborn smell. Breastfeeding so easy this time! Stroke his soft soft skin. And asked DH, 'can we have one more please?'. Cue jaw drop and look of shock!

AIBU?

congratulations! and enjoy these wonderful first few days!

Ineedsomesleep · 10/01/2010 08:57

Congratulations. I felt exactly the same.

GreenMonkies · 10/01/2010 09:09

No, YANBU, but perhaps wait a few days (or months ) before ttc!!

fernie3 · 10/01/2010 09:33

I felt the same after number two.... and number three and probably will after number 4 arrives!. YANBU BUT I would wait a while to make sure its not just post baby hormones!

bagpuss · 10/01/2010 09:39

Ah, congratulations. I felt the same after dd1 arrived and the feeling never really left me tbh. I have 5 dc now .

compo · 10/01/2010 09:41

Congrats

enjoy the newborn you've got before wishing for another one

WashwithCare · 10/01/2010 09:44

Aww that's nice - congrads on your little one... One of my friends was also desperate for another one before the stiches even came out! DH will no doubt dismiss anything you say as deranged ramblings

Enjoy!

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 10/01/2010 10:01

YANBU, how could you be but I would gently suggest you wait a little while before ttc unless you know for sure you can cope if next time it is very hard.

racmac · 10/01/2010 10:12

I remember feeling like this as i had just given birth to DS2 - it was an amzing feeling and i wanted to do it all over again

I was bf and fell pg as DS2 was 10 months - so there is 19 months between them - its wonderful - didnt feel like it after DS3 though

mistletoekisses · 10/01/2010 10:47

Thank you all.

Have no concerns! I have absolutely no intent on TTC!! DH is probably dismissing the lot as deranged ramblings, but then so too am I!! I just love how strong the hormones are. All rational thought/ feelings are obliterated!

As I was being discharged, my midwife and consultant looked at me, and said one thing left to tell you. CONTRACEPTION. My consultant once saw someone who had managed to fall pregnant totally by accident by their 8 week postnatal check up! I was more amazed that someone was 'back on the saddle' so to speak so soon after delivery. But apparently the feeling hits some couples as they find it all quite erotic. whatever floats your boat I say!

I know someone whose second child was born before their first child was one...

monkeyfeathers · 10/01/2010 11:10

There are only 10 months between my cousins, and the younger one wasn't premature.

glastocat · 10/01/2010 11:17

Otherwise known as Irish twins.

GracieW · 10/01/2010 11:20

I knew after my DS1 and DS2 that I wanted more. Had DD and knew that was enough.

I think you know how you feel and chances are you'll have a third at some point

duchesse · 10/01/2010 11:22

I felt like you do straight after my daughter's birth (by EMCS, she in NICU for 5 days, so not fuzzy and straightforward at all) four months ago. Pleased to report it's now waning! My advice is to wait a bit before deciding...

squashimodo · 10/01/2010 11:33

I know how you feel.
DD is 3 months old, is my 5th, I would love to have just one more. But I think it is because we decided dd would be our last, so I feel kind of sad about that, and so it is an emotional reaction to that. I have kept all of her outrown baby clothes etc.
i will probably wait a while before making a final decision, but at 42, don't have alot of time...

You are definately NBU.

duke · 10/01/2010 12:01

AIBU to look at my mums new puppy last night and suddenly feel like a want another baby!

MarshaBrady · 10/01/2010 12:04

Congratulations!

Ds2 is 4 weeks old.

And I completely agree.

He is wonderful and soft and already getting bigger.

CardyMow · 10/01/2010 12:39

After DS2 (my third DC) I 'knew' I didn't want any more...(might have had something to do with having 3 DC's under 6 at the time). Fast forward 6yrs, I've been TTC again for DC4...One more will be my lot (although DP wants 2 so DC4 isn't 'lonely'??!!) Enjoy this feeling, it may not last when your baby hits toddler age!!

CirrhosisByTheSea · 10/01/2010 12:59

YANBU.

And it's a better time to be broody than it is for me - I am 42, DH has had the snip, I have high blood pressure, and DS would be genuinely traumatised by a sibling (he is now 7 and has told us regularly how he would hate to have a bro or sis!) and NOW is the first time in my life that I have ever felt broody! Didn't even feel broody when we decided to go for DS!

I am putting it down to hormones!

Enjoy your baby

DorotheaPlenticlew · 10/01/2010 13:03

Congratulations -- I fully expect the same thing to happen to me after DC2 is born. Love the lovely newborn fog feeling

Mishy1234 · 10/01/2010 13:57

Congratulations!

I felt like this after DS was born (first baby) and just about managed to hold off ttc in the first few months. Still wanted another after DS turned 1 and am currently expected no2 in May.

Think it's actually quite usual. I remember feeling really shocked I was broody so soon.
