To be cross with my neighbour?

Our driveways are icy, yes, I agree.
I was carrying heavy shopping and trying to hustle toddlers home.
Can I help you he shouts from his doorway.
I smile neighbourly, no, I think I'm fine, thanks
Next thing I slip (not over, just a shuffle)he runs and grabs my bags. In the struggle I slip again, onto my knees this time, bags split, I fall and he stands there grinning and says oh, fine are you?

What exactlty WAS he offering to help with ?

I think a natural aversion to over friendly people.
You know, like when you meet people at a toddler group or something and they tell you everything about their lives, then want your number and invite you round their house
I immediately distance myyself

He knocked this morning at 7am and shouted excitedly 'have you seen the snow??!!, how will you get to school?!!'
I will walk, it's not the end of the world.
It's not me is it?

It is you! If you're uncomfortable, you need to draw boundaries. He seems quite happy after all

I have a neighbour who is extremely friendly. As a LP with several small children, I've decided to see it as a positive that he keeps a watchful eye out for us although initially, I did feel uncomfortable.

mrsruffallo · 13/01/2010 11:29

Okay, I suppose it is better than having an unpleasant neighbour

I think so too. I've got one of each. Polar opposites! When I move, I know which I'd take with me if I had to choose one.

Retain your sense of humour regarding him and his quirks and it might be more easy to cope with him? Pinch of salt style

Casserole · 13/01/2010 12:42

I'd love my neighbours to come and salt outside my house, save me the bother. Or was it the particular NaCl compound preparation you objected to? Saxo's still salt you know.
