Not sure why I've name changed as content of post will give it away but hey ho.....

I posted on Facebook last night "Fed up of being at home - sod it, going out in the snow!" and my dsister commented saying "why don't you look for a job then? then you wouldn't be bored".

I found this a little bit bitchy as we have had no conversations about the fact that I don't work (am SAHM), and I never complain about not having money, being stuck at home or anything. I have thought about going back to work, but childcare costs would only just be covered, so I can't justify it.

I can only imagine she has misinterpreted the post and thought I meant I was fed up being at home full stop, and not because I was snowed in. However I still feel that it's not really the sort of thing you say to someone?

Not really that bothered about it - just wondering if it's a normal thing to say or not? What do you think?

She's obviously got a chip on her shoulder and chose to misinterpret the post so ignore!

Pikelit · 08/01/2010 13:47

It's Facebook, please don't confuse anything said with RL. Only I've noticed some hilarious Facebook binfests kicking off over the last couple of days - all down to cabin fever and over-sensitivity.

AMumInScotland · 08/01/2010 13:48

If she's not normally bitchy, then I'd assume she thought you meant you were fed up of being home in general, not just a temporary snow/cabin-fever thing. Not something I'd say to anyone, even my sister, via Facebook, but then I don't do facebook anyway and am astonished at how people seem to have their entire relationships on it!

sausagerolemodel · 08/01/2010 13:50

maybe she just had a crappy day at work and was feeling a bit envious or something. Online stuff gets such kneejerk reactions, if it was said IRL it would be laughed over and dismissed almost immediately. Don't worry about it.

ChickensHaveFrozenNuggets · 08/01/2010 13:50

Maybe she meant to add a .

ToffeeCrumble · 08/01/2010 13:52

Yes i think it is bitchy of her.

Pancakeflipper · 08/01/2010 13:52

She had a bad day at work or trying to get there in the snow?

Ignore her - sounds like she'd fed up and the one with the problem. You go and turn snow yellow.

pointofnoreturn · 08/01/2010 13:55

Hmmmm, wouldn't say she was normally bitchy, but does like to comment on everything I do, normally negatively....

OP posts:
Pancakeflipper · 08/01/2010 13:55

Then she's being a bitch. Ignore her.

Lizzylou · 08/01/2010 13:56

Bet she'd had a tough time getting in/out of work was feeling all fed up and the thought of going out to play in the snow seemed like the better deal.

Ask her to babysit for an entire day, not allowed out, then at 6pm when she is rocking and twitching on the kitchen floor, ask who has the best deal?

I wouldn't read too much into it, just an off the cuff comment.

bellissima · 08/01/2010 14:01

A bit bitchy. I'm fed up too - wish the DCs were at school and wish I could get out.

Put it this way, if someone tells me they are having a lousy time at work I never turn around and say "Oh well why don't you just give it up then and have a nice time at home???" Most people would find hard to change the situation they are in - lots of costs either way unless of course you have a fascinating and high earning career (in our dreams..)

Pikelit · 08/01/2010 14:02

Excommunicate her. Then she'll have something to bitch about.
