To not bother getting ready for school?

SnotBaby · 08/01/2010 06:31

We have duvets out on the sofa. I don't see the point of initiating the 90 minute nagfest required for a school run that probably isn't going to happen come 8:15am.

AIBU to let everyone snuggle in their dressing gowns and start a second round of tea and toast?

NB this is not a complaint about the school being closed, more an AIBU to not bother trying just in case it's open.

second round of tea and toast?
how do I teach myself to be able to eat when I get up
I've been up since 5 and I can't seem to face anything yet

MamaG · 08/01/2010 06:54

Trin some people are just like that - my mum and DH can't face anything for ages. Maybe you could ry having something TINY and then build up from there?

SnotBaby · 08/01/2010 07:00

I'm not normally like this either Trinity, but it's very cold and I have important procrastinating to be getting on with!

Keep refreshing council schools list in other window, ours hasn't appeared yet... Perhaps I should start wiping jam off DC...

How come it takes 90 minutes for everyone to get ready in the morning?

SnotBaby · 08/01/2010 07:09

mvensjunp is that a rhetorical question or one for me?

Hassled · 08/01/2010 07:24

Yes, if they get there late or not at all the world won't stop turning - just take it slowly.

lilyjen · 08/01/2010 07:38

I'm struggling with the same question, it's freezing, theres ice and snow everywhere. I don't have a car, we walk the mile into school. My house is lovely and warm and it's friday today. I know my DD's rainbow class in the village has been cancelled tonight, I just want to start afresh on monday rather than kill ourselves trying to get in on the last day of the week. (DD's school has been closed all week too)

stickylittlefingers · 08/01/2010 07:42

The school here is closed, and the live departure boards are showing my train to work as cancelled - so I'm not even getting them up, and I'm MNing rather than looking at work email (well, I wouldn't be in work at 7.41 anyway). I say chill....

borderslass · 08/01/2010 07:46

my sons school has been open since yesterday but if the roads are still like this Monday he'll still be off although I'm getting him up earlyish today as I need shopping and I'm getting him to help whether he likes it or not daughter are also off school and college hopefully they'll be back Monday though.

SnotBaby · 08/01/2010 07:48

Trinity if it's unsafe to drive then I reckon bums on sofas/ in beds is v sensible!

Have tried ringing school & it's either engaged or standard answerphone message so some poor blighted is in there trying to do something...

TrinityIsFuckingTrying · 08/01/2010 08:01

mine is def open
all kids are dressed one has had brekkie, two are eating brekkie

still cant light the sodding fire and reckoon the 'noise' may have been a mouse

so newspaper and mars bar (for mouse trap) on the list

I've found 2 out of three school bags

the car is turned on and warming

says its bloody minus 12 out there

brrrrrrrr

Comewhinewithme · 08/01/2010 08:08

Mine are wagginghe it the big one has gone to his school but the lo's are staying home I am not bouncing the pram down 12 slippy stairs just for one day.

bellissima · 08/01/2010 08:34

My DCs school open today for 'activities' ie not compulsory. They have already sent work by email and DD1 content to do at home (since she has to do anyway) but of course six yr old desperate to go in. And I'm not.... will wait and see how many cars move in street.

SnotBaby · 08/01/2010 08:55

There now you see I CAN get us ready in 30 minutes when I absolutely have to

our school reopened today my dad took my daughter in the car (roads are pretty clear). I set foot outside a little while ago and the pavements are totally iced over and incredibly difficult to walk on,I slipped over and landed on my behind so hard that now I have back ache and stomach cramps so I am convinced I have somehow damaged the baby (I am only 1o weeks though!). AND I have to walk and pick her up with giant double buggy later on.

If I could go back in time I would have stayed i bed whether the school was open or not as the roads are clear but if you havent got a car and walk thats not much help!
