You upset me is all. I am worried about my husband. I am really rather fond of him and he looks terribly anxious. I just wish he didn't have to go and could stay here and have some fun with us instead.

Imsonottelling, obviously a sensitive subject for you, it wasnt my intention to upset anyone and im sorry if you feel that way.

ImSoNotTelling · 07/01/2010 12:29

Well he's just left. Luckily he left the car at the top of the road, we've spent the last half hour watching people sliding backwards down the hill and giving up! Fingers crossed...

claw3 · 07/01/2010 13:42

Hopefully most of the main roads will be clear, im sure he and the other man folk will be fine, after all they are men, not idiots!

Im about to venture out to get shopping.

ImSoNotTelling · 07/01/2010 14:08

DH is going to get ours, his base is next door to a supermarket. I have just shovelled our path

Good luck to all the people out on the roads today

lucyellensmumagain · 07/01/2010 18:20

I did a bad thing - i phoned DP and told him we had six inches of snow so he would get his arse home before the roads got too icy

Mine got back safe and sound his shift finished at 9. Phew

FimBOW · 08/01/2010 09:21

Good grief Claw. I have just read about the firefighter who died because he slipped on ice and banged his head and you tell us not to worry!

claw3 · 08/01/2010 10:07

Fimbow, I gave up yesterday trying to lighten the mood.

Yes you should all worry yourselves sick.

Come to think of it i read about a bus crashing, dp travels by bus, i will keep him home!

FimBOW · 08/01/2010 10:47

Claw we all think differently. I didn't let my dd walk home from school on her own until she was 10 some had been doing it since they were 8 or younger.

Maybe some of us are overreacting or being a bit silly, but it is how we are.

I am naturally neurotic.

FimbleHobbs · 08/01/2010 10:59

I wouldn't worry that much personally, but totally understand why people would.

My DH does a risky job anyway so I am not too worried about him driving in snow - he is experienced and confident at driving in tricky circumstances. Unlike me, still a bit wobbly after nearly skidding off the road the other day.

I think I worry enough about him going to work as it is (he is a police officer so it is normal for him to be in life threatening situations), the snow doesn't make it much more dangerous than it usually is anyway. Plus people need him to go to work so he can help them.

But I can see that if your DH normally goes to work and comes home and you don't have to worry about them getting hurt inbetween, the snow would really be a worry. It is a horrible thing to say goodbye wondering if/when you'll see them again.

claw3 · 08/01/2010 11:01

Fimbow, i didnt let my ds's come home from school on their own until they were 11 and started secondary school

My dp on the otherhand, has been making his own way home since i met him

ImSoNotTelling · 08/01/2010 11:25

Oh DD1 (2.5) got chucked out this morning with her skis, crampons and woolly jumper. I expect she is having a nice time somewhere.

DH on the other hand, I worry about
