To think that these are fine as meals and that my 'friend' was rude

My friend came over earlier and was trying to persuade me to go to the supermarket with her. I refused because I didn't need to and didn't want to.

She then looked in my fridge and said "well what are you planning to cook for dinner then? You don't have any food in the house"

I told her (pasta with the bacon, broccoli and philly tonight and veg, lentil and tomato soup for tomorrow) plus pointed out that I had stew and chili frozen as well as mince, chops and diced turkey in the freezer.

She laughed and said "Oh so you're just not going to bother feeding the kids proper food because you can't be bothered to go shopping then"

WTF??

YANBU

Maybe she only sees it as proper food if it is in a plastic container, wrapped in plastic with a cardboard outer and had microwave instructions.

Very odd 'friend'

She definitely does not have a point, OP. Not even close - they sound like delicious and nutritious meals, and you are clearly doing a great job of feeding your kids - and she is a loon!

Besides from what everyone else has said about your meals being fine, trudging around Asda wouldn't be my idea of spending quality time with a friend!
That's even sadder than going to Ikea with the express intention of having Sunday lunch.

She does sound wierd.

My friends wouldn't dream of going rooting around my fridge, grade 1 loon in my book

claireybaubles · 06/01/2010 16:10

She does cook, but does 2 types of cooking. Either frozen stuff and chips or meat and 2 veg type meals. So I suppose mine are neither of those. Also maybe she was imagining soup to be as filling as a can of soup (ie not very)...
