DP just came home and asked "are you ready?" I ask what for and he says we are going to visit his friend 20 miles away.
I really don't think we should go out, we only have 4 inches of snow but what was left from Friday is frozen underneath, said friend lives on a steep hill adn we have no idea what it's like there, and there's a good chance it'll snow again here tonight.
AIBU to think we should stay in where it's safe (and warm)? Only thing is he's left his mobile in work so can't text/phone his friend as he doesn't commint phone numbers to memory like I do
SHall I just tell him to go on his own?

I'm going to bet money that if he goes on his own he will 'have to' stay over where the beer is as the roads will suddenly become much more treacherous

don't go - its horrible out
friend will understand

Seems a bit silly to risk life and limb (literally) to visit a friend who's not in desperate need, etc. I'd stay put if I were you!

Thanks ladies!

Tell him that our insurance company has written off our car (well, one of them) because dh skidded on black ice and damaged the steering. He's a good driver and was driving carefully, but still had an accident. He and I are just glad that no-one was hurt.

Tell him that if he goes out in this weather, for a frivolous reason such as a drink, then he is risking not only his life, but the lives of anyone else unlucky enough to have to be on the roads or pavements at the same time.

I think the general advice is "stay in, unless you're a teacher"

truoddsox · 05/01/2010 19:29

Oh dear DavidTennantsGirl, sorry to hear that. Glad nobody was hurt.

Lol golgi, poor teachers always get the worst of it when the schools close. Up here they only close because the majority of the kids live out of the town in rural areas and the school buses can't get to them. Pointless opening a school for 1500 pupils if only 30 turn up!

I got my way, he's popped to the supermarket (5mins away on a clear, gritted main road) and I'm about to have a long soak in the bath. TBH I'd forgotten about the trip to his friend's house tonight, so I was quite glad of the snow as an excuse

Good, glad your DH has seen sense. The emergency services are saying don't go out unless its really necessary.
