I have been waiting since the 18th of October for my CRB to come back. I cannot start work without it, I am stuck on IS and getting poorer by the week.

It cost me £50, and is so inefficient I could do it quicker myself.

You can track and trace your application online on the CRB website - which will tell you at which stage it is at, 1-5, 5 will say the issue date. They often get stuck at stage 4....

If you do not have your CRB after 60 days, you can query it with them and they have a duty to investigate with the police department which are dealing with it. If you have moved around a lot, ie in different police authorities, it will more than likely take longer as it gets passed from force to force. However, somethimes, there is no real explanation why some take 2 weeks and some take 4 months! Good luck with chasing it.

Can anyone tell me what happens about your passport. DS needs a CRB check for his Camp America trip in June but will be out of the UK from mid-Feb to end-April doing a course (for which he had to get clearance from Disclosure Scotland). Will he have time to get checked out again before he goes to America?

Lilymaid -I think you would need to check with Camp America direct when they want to see his ID to verify his CRB application before they send it to CRB Liverpool for processing. Depending on when in June he goes to US, it might be ok - the problem is you can never gaurantee how long the CRB comes back, it can take 2 weeks to 3 months at worst.

However, if it is sent off early Feb before your DS goes abroad, it may potentially become invalid if it back quickly in say March and he doesnt need it until June. I really think only Camp America can advise you on your query depending on their policies/current CRB times etc. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice Kizzipoppet. He had to apply to Disclosure Scotland for clearance back in November and they still haven't sorted that out, so we shall get his CRB check for Camp America in straight away so that it might be sorted by the time he goes away in June - after all it is only 5 months! I will get him to discuss the 3 months business with Camp America, but we have to get things moving as he will be off skiing in Switzerland from February to April so not able to deal with paperwork so easily.
(At least his problems are related to gap year jaunts - it isn't much fun when it is a work related hold up).
